crystalpenny wrote: July 29th, 2023, 2:30 pm Thanks, Elijah for listening. I don't hear the buzz that you hear, but in looking at the audacity waveform, I am reminded that this was the chapter during which I became entangled with the "envelope" feature, entirely by mistake. At the time-stamps you mention, and at others, I see waveform artifacts/ghosts in the white bands above and below the main area - if that makes any sense. Anyway, I have my original recording before the unfortunate entanglement occurred, which I can re-edit. At the same time, I'll can re-record the optional mis-speak for "manfully".

But, would you have time to listen to Ch 5 and confirm that it does not occur in that file? If you hear any buzz in Ch 5, then my "envelope" artifact theory is incorrect and I will need to think about other possible noise sources.

Thanks again!
I downloaded the file and looked at the audacity waveform as well, and I can agree with your theory! I have a very high resolution ear buds  and when I had looked at the waveform the first time it looked a little like what you described.

Whichever way to edit this for you, is how we can go about it! I can listen to it whenever you come around to it :9: I'll PL chapter 5 soon!

Thanks again!
Elijah

Thanks so much, that's really helpful!! :9: I just installed the Checker, adjusted the volume, and checked them. They seem to be at the correct dB now but if not please let me know!

I'm glad it worked out! And perfect! They are now PL OK! I hope the checker helps you out with future projects as well :9:

Here is Ch 5 narrator
https://librivox.org/uploads/kitty/eightcousins_narrator_05.mp3
(13:54) 88.9dB
Good work again! I didn't hear or see anything buzzing (unless some bees come flying around me  )

I do have one small PL note and it is optional:

@12:47 (about there), text reads “we are sisters” I hear "we are allsisters." It seemed a little strained on the "all" part, which is okay, but I guess my reasoning would be it's a very personal matter between Rose and Phebe that they are "like sisters" to quote Rose earlier, and Phebe corrects that line to "we are sisters" with her line. It's totally okay if you want to keep it though! No worries :D

Great work! I enjoy your narration very much, you are doing awesome!

Hi Elijah!

Thanks for the quick listen of chapter 5, which hopefully confirms the noise issues with ch 4. I'll re-edit soon.

As for "we are all sisters" in ch 5... I read and recorded from the script which reads "we are sisters" then proofed from the source text version and seeing "we are all sisters" there thought I had made a mistake and fixed it, hence the imperfect addition of "all". So here's the question, which is the correct version 1) the script or 2) the source text???

Well, the script should have been exactly from the text on gutenberg there, so the source text is correct then! Thank you for double looking at that, I should have done so first  Lots of things can happen during scripting though, so it's alright.

PL OK!

Here is Ch 4 again. It had special issues and should be PL'd all the way through, so please mark it as "PL ready" rather than "Spot Check"

Ch 4 narrator
https://librivox.org/uploads/kitty/eightcousins_narrator_04.mp3
(11:14) 89.1 dB

Thanks!
