I’d be thrilled to have you edit Five Birds in a Cage! I’m still trying to catch up on projects after a short absence so I haven’t had a chance to start editing this yet. Nelly’s part should be uploaded in a day or so.

I am having a severe brain cramp! For the life of me, I can't remember how to make Audacity combine the "all" parts so that it doesn't sound like 3-5 people mumbling. Can anyone provide any direction? It's the last bit I need to put everything together.

I start off with each reader in a separate track all stacked up over each other for the phrases that are to be overlaid. Make sure that all the tracks are dragged above the label track if you have one - Audacity will overlay such tracks automatically on playback or in mp3 generation.

Unsynchronize the tracks (you had to do that to stack them anyway). Then mute all but two of them, and align those two - adjusting gaps between words so as to have most words start and end at the same time in those two. (It seldom matters if you have to cut out some parts in the middle of some words - so long as word starts and ends align from track to track.)

Then take one of those two as the "master" files, mute the other, unmute another of the reader files and get it to align with the master - and make sure you do NOT change the master file any more, just the new reader file! Rinse and repeat until all the reader files have been separately aligned with the master.

Unmute everybody and listen. It won't be perfect and you might have to mute some tracks and make little adjustments.

When done, synchronize tracks again so other editing you do won't unalign the track region you just worked on here. (Which means you have to do all the above starting from the beginning of the file and working toward the end, and never go back to edit anything that requires unsynchronizing again without checking everything else you have already done all over again. This also really means you have to do all this stacking as the last editing thing you do and hope there are no Final PL comments that affect this.)

Thanks, Todd

I'm not sure either, I sent them to Kristin (MrsHand) who offered to edit the remaining plays.

Thank you for these files, Tricia!

Kristin: Remember if you use any of these new-found files in one of the plays that they are NOT the file versions that have been PL'd and which are linked to in the MW! They may be older versions of files or they might be new better corrected versions misdirected to the wrong place.

(Note also that since you have to have the fully assembled play go through a final PL'd before it is complete and ready for the cataloging, we should catch any newly introduced errors from these files...!)

Thanks, Todd

Glad to hear this!

And glad to move the collection along.

If I can help with the remaining play, let me know. I'll be available again next week.
