Really So Stories, by Elizabeth Gordon (1866 - 1922)

This project is now in our catalog at https://librivox.org/really-so-stories-by-elizabeth-gordon/

These stories for young people are really so, they are not made up stories about bears or witches. These are short educational sketches about how our calendar came to be, Where Valentine's day came from, how pelicans live with their big beak, how we have the wonderful telegraph, and many more.
So if you are a bit tired of fairy tales and giants, try these bite sized sections packed with real information about things and events important to the people of the early 1900s. They are Really So !. (Note that these little essays may not be totally politically correct and will have prejudices and ideas that reflect the time when they were written 100 years ago. But they are still fun to read.) (Summary by philchenevert)

How did it get so late so soon?
It’s night before it’s afternoon.
December is here before it’s June.
My goodness how the time has flewn.
How did it get so late so soon?
