The Princess and the Goblin by George MacDonald (1824 - 1905).

The story of a Princess named Irene, and her adventure with a boy named Curdie Peterson. Princess Irene meets her grandmother, and Irene wants her nurse, Lootie, to know that her grandmother is so sweet and kind. But Lootie doesn't believe there is a grandmother. One day, while it was getting very late outdoors, Lootie and the Princess loose their way, and cannot remember which way was back home. But then Curdie, the merry miner-boy, want's to save the princess from the evil goblins, and so he makes sure that they cannot get to her. The Princess then wants Curdie to meet her grandmother, but somehow, Curdie cannot see Irene's grandmother, and so he becomes angry with Irene. Much later in the story, the goblins devise an evil plan, to try and merry their prince Harelip to the Princess Irene! And now Curdie knows he must save Irene, even though he was angry with her. So after talking with his parents, Curdie goes out to save the Princess Irene from the horrible goblins. But does Curdie save the Princess? And do the goblins marry their prince Harelip to the Princess Irene? This fascinating story will tell it itself in this wonderful dramatic reading! ( Elijah Fisher)

    1. Is there a deadline?
We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    2. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here
To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.

Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/34339

PLEASE read from the Highlighted text here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1wJEM3su8mpbgveLp5s0r-B04aYeFuxDe?usp=sharing It would be hard to find your lines on the gutenberg text, wouldn't it?

Dear MC,

I will be the BC for this project, and JayKitty76 has kindly agreed to DPL. She is going to read a character as well, and I will PL her sections. We’ve found a wonderful narrator (bhavya), and she has also kindly asked to help with some of the editing. JayKitty76 also will help with some editing, and I will as well. I will also PL the Chapters JayKitty76 edits. Other than that, I have highlighted all the text on google docs, and figured out which characters are in which chapters.

Thank you,
Elijah

Busy with little/no LV access June 15-24. Will try to keep up with claims, etc, but no/very little PLing during that time should be expected.

And, the evil Goblin Queen checking in to say that I am very excited to get started and make little children cry (just kidding, but I can't wait to start anyways ). Can't wait to pull out my villainy on this one!

Hi Elijah,
I was recording chapter 4 lines for Lootie right now, and there are a couple lines colored wrong. Here
'Did you expect me to believe you, princess?' asked the nurse coldly
part of it is supposed to be the narrator. This is all colored as Lootie's lines. And here
'I will go with you anywhere you like, my cherub,
' this is colored as Irene's line, but it is actually Lootie's. Could you please fix that? Thank you.

I don't see a claim for King Goblin, so if it is free, I'd like to take that one, if I may.
