There is a Tide, by J.C. Snaith (1876 - 1936)
Mame Durrance grew up on a pig farm in Cowbarn, Iowa but she had big dreams to become a journalist. An inheritance from her aunt allowed her to travel to pursue her dream, but after a brief and unsuccessful visit to New York, she finds herself back on the pig farm. Undaunted, she sets out for England to make her mark. Despite being unimpressed by the parceled landscape, comic villages, pokey lodgings, watery tea and tasteless food, Miss Amethyst Du Rance, New York City, U. S. A., European Correspondent, Cowbarn Independent is ready to make her mark!

Also published as Time and Tide (Summary by 1924)

Hmmm… I’ll look into it, but maybe not til tomorrow.

Edit: it looks like Gutenberg is down. Links from other projects don’t work either.
