Great job Jennifer! PL OK!

Hi Norah! I wasn't able to access the recording from the MW, but it did open successfully from the thread. I've left the status as See PL note so we can double check the recording link, but Jennifer doesn't need to do anything. Thanks!
Cheers,
Claire

Hmm, I'm not sure why I didn't work, but I've copied the link back into the MW so it's good now.

Thank you!

Hello HollyAnn! Welcome to Librivox and congrats on your first recording! I really enjoyed your pacing and energy with all the different voices. Just a few bits of feedback.

Opening - Please remove your location from the intro. If you would like to say your location, you can do that in the outro. Please remove the "Phd" after the author's name.

Overall audio - There does appear to be a high amount of clipping throughout your audio. If you look at your audio file, there are probably spikes that may flatten out towards the top, which means your audio can sound distorted. This can happen when you are a bit too close to the mic, or when you increase the volume of your voice. Can you please try the compressor feature to see if that will help with the distortion? If you're using audacity, here's a video done by one of our LV volunteers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJ3lOTDsN6c

Once any edits are made, please re-upload the file, under the same file name, and post in this thread so I can do a quick spot check.
Cheers,
Claire

Thank you Claire! I honestly don't mind the location in the intro, so HollyAnn, you won't need to worry about that.

Hello, I have been away for a about a month and listening back to my current recording, I wonder if I am able to get it proof listened to before I carry on recording? Just want to make sure the quality is ok before I carry on and as I have limited time left, if changes are needed I may be best to give up my chapter to someone else. Do I have to upload it as though it's completed for this, or is there another way? Pls let me know :)

I removed the "PhD" from the intro, took away the "noise reduction" that I did the first time, and tried adding the "compression" effect that you mentioned. Let me know what you think! Thanks for the direction, I'm happy to learn!

Hi Caprice! Welcome to Librivox. I really enjoyed your pacing and tone within the chapter, but I did notice that your voice fades in and out a little bit at the start and end of each sentence. It's almost as if you're moving toward and away from the mic while reading. I also tend to move around as I'm reading, usually as I'm going from one page to the next. I've found it works better if I move my screen closer to my seat (I work off a laptop, so it's easy for me to move it closer). As you continue to record, you'll find your rhythm and also what works best for you! You got this :)
Cheers,
Claire

Hello! Thanks so much for running the compressor. This did take away enough distortion that we can mark this section PL OK!

I would recommend for future recordings to reduce the input volume for future recordings. That is a slider that looks like a mic on the right hand side at the top of the audacity screen. Or, you could also be a bit further away from the microphone so as your voice increases, it won't go over any audio thresholds.

Overall, great expressiveness with the characters, and I look forward to listening to more of your recordings in the future! :)
Cheers,
Claire
