The first segment of the narrator's part has been uploaded to Rapunzelina:

https://librivox.org/uploads/rapunzelina/ivanhoe_narrator_00.mp3
It is 25 minutes long.

I see that the hypertext instructions about pronunciation do not always direct the reader to the same website, but pronouncekiwi.com or Forvo allow quite a variety of pronunciations, and if readers make diverse choices, they will introduce inconsistency. Maybe you could specify which speaker-nationality to choose?

For the list of characters, I have searched the various pieces of the novel to locate pronunciation instructions but have found none for Elgitha, Maurice de Bracy, William de Wyvil, or Baldwin de Oyley, so I followed my own inclinations whenever I was in doubt, after certifying that the French names are to be pronounced according to the French speakers on the websites.

For Waldemar Fitzurse, the Forvo options begin with the German pronunciation, so that is what I have followed.

I noticed a little glitch in the script while looking over lines. In chapter 11 when Gurth is being escorted out of the forest the narrator says two of the Merry Men escort him out, and then a few lines later it shows three of the Merry Men speaking. 😃

Thank you for that observation regarding the pronunciation links, Tom. From this end, they were all going to a specific voicing. We'll have to look into that. And what you've done with the names you mentioned is good to go. Lynette's saying, if the links to the pronunciation sites are going to be problematic so that we can't tell if they're specific enough or not, with your permission, we could make clips from your reading of them and just load those into the project to link from for everyone.

You are welcome to upload your narrator files any time. The project's still in the Launch Pad, until Rapunzelina can get it shifted over, but the MW is fully populated and uploader is in working order, so folks can dig in and send files whenever they want.

Greatly appreciate the recording help and the feedback.

The first section is uploaded:

It is 25 minutes long. If you want to use my pronunciations to guide the other readers, I have no objection.

Appreciate the note - I've addressed that spot.

We both worked hard on setting this project up, re-checking everything carefully, but some spots will undoubtedly show up. Happy to fix them when found.

Appreciate the help. Making sure you're aware: Elgitha sings the dirge in ch. 42. OK with this?

Ambrose, it is! (a Templar who's more on the bad side of things than the good, if that's OK with you?)

We've just moved to Readers Wanted. I do like to stay in the Launch Pad for more than a day so that all time zones can have a chance to see what's launching.
