The Million-Dollar Freight Train by Frank Spearman (1859 - 1937) .
Quote:
The story of a young engineer on his first run. (Summary by CH)

• Target completion date: 2012-Dec-15 - Recording is already complete
• Text source (only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/files/19356/19356-h/19356-h.htm#THE_MILLION_DOLLAR_FREIGHT_TRAIN
• Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

I see that Guero hasn't been on for a week, so I will just tidy this collection up, so that proof-listening can be completed, edits made by readers, and the project catalogued.

K4KW: Adding your story to the last slot in this collection. Please keep an eye on this thread to see when it has been proof-listened, and if there are any edits needed.

Cviveiros: This collection is now full, so I will move your post to the Short Story Collection 054 which has now opened - your file name is wrong anyway, so it needed to be changed in any case ;). I don't have a proof-listener for that yet, so just keep your eye on that thread for when the proof-listening notes are posted, in case there are any edits needed.

Thanks!

BT's amplified sections - OK.

The Ole Virginia

6:58-7:04 - jingling sound, like a dog collar

Very end - click at the very, very end of the recording. (You could also probably cut out 2 seconds of silence while you're at it.) ;)

EDITED TO ADD: Couldn't completely remove the jingling, but reduced it. Removed excess silence. Lynnet, please approve, or edit a new bit in and re-upload. RuthieG

A Wireless Message

Pretty loud background noise; otherwise OK.

EDITED TO ADD: Noise-cleaned. Lynnet, please approve or re-upload. RuthieG

Wow, Ruth... talk about efficiency

Thank you for doing my dirty work for me

I can redo the dog scratching if you want... or does it pass now? (Have to confess she manages to get into quite a few of my recordings - some of which I catch - but if I try shutting her out of the room, she keeps banging on the door. Talk about a pesky pooch....)
