Poems: Series Two by Emily Dickinson (1830 - 1886) .

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: http://librivox.org/poems-series-two-by-emily-dickinson/
"The eagerness with which the first volume of Emily Dickinson's poems has been read shows very clearly that all our alleged modern artificiality does not prevent a prompt appreciation of the qualities of directness and simplicity in approaching the greatest themes,—life and love and death. That "irresistible needle-touch," as one of her best critics has called it, piercing at once the very core of a thought, has found a response as wide and sympathetic as it has been unexpected even to those who knew best her compelling power. This second volume, while open to the same criticism as to form with its predecessor, shows also the same shining beauties." (Summary by Mabel Loomis Todd)
  • Target completion date: 2012-Dec-31
  • Text source (only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/2679
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

OK, you should be set. I'll PM you your Magic Window login and instructions for use.

I've added the first two titles to the Magic Window; you can add the rest. When doing your file names and ID tags, you only need one digit for the number, since this project has fewer than 10 sections. :)

Holler if you have any questions!

We'll hang out here in the Launch Pad for a little while to see if a DPL shows up. After a while, I'll move us to the Going Solo folder.

I would be happy to DPL if you'd like.
Between being a full-time college student and working 20+ hours per week, I'm not able to be involved at LV these days, but I remain a loyal fan and look forward to a triumphant return sometime in the (probably distant) future.

Thanks, both of you. Hobbit, if you'd like to DPL, that would be great. Thank you so much.

I have added you in, Hobbit. :)

Laura - I see you've added the preface. Please put the file length (mm:ss) in the Notes field of the Magic Window and click the "complete" box. (That means it's uploaded; when it gets the "PL OK" note, we'll know it's ready to catalog.)

Also, you'll want to post in the thread that you've uploaded a section; otherwise your DPL probably won't know. 8-)

Thanks. I hope to listen to the preface later this evening. :)

I have only one tiny PL note for the preface. At 2:06 there is a slight stumble: "each of six or s - eight sheets." This is so very minor that, as no other changes need to be made, I think it would be OK to leave it unless you particularly want to fix it.

Lovely reading, by the way! You have a very soothing voice. :)

Lovely reading, by the way!
Why, thank you, Hobbit! I have fixed the stumble at 2:06 and uploaded another section.

The Preface is now PL OK! Looking forward to listening to section 1 (though I might not be able to do it until tomorrow or the day after.)

There is no hurry. The recording has been going faster than I expected, so don't mind me if I post more, but I don't expect to hear back about the PL for a while. (After all, I posted this as a December book). :)

PL notes for section one: First, the ID3 tags are incorrect. Look toward the bottom of the first post to see what they should say. The tags for the preface are also incorrect. Sorry for not catching that before.

Once again, a very nice reading! :)
