Has a poem been suggested for next week yet? If not, may I suggest "Where My Books Go" by Yeats, found on Bartleby here: http://www.bartleby.com/101/862.html

Robert,
very clear and with good speed, gentle and expressive.
Annie,
Go for it. You do know what to do, don't you?
Modify the first page of the thread and start a new one. You might want to add a note about using ID3 version 2 tags instead of version 1, and perhaps a) using the author's initials rather than the surname and b) adding the reader to the Comment section in the MP3 info section. Give your own contact details, and check each one as it comes in.

That's a big improvement, Robert. It does increase the background noise a bit, but it's still within reasonable standards. Possibly a little toying around with the filters will show you how to reduce that.
I've got a Plantronics Bluetooth headset for the phone at work and it's very nice, but like your Logitech, I can't really move it around in front of my face. Here is the headset I use at home. Despite the fact that it's got "For PlayStation2" emblazoned on the front of the package, XP picked it up without a hitch. Found it at WalMart for thirty bucks, but some judicious hunting on the net will find it for under twenty.
The boom not only pivots but flexes too, which enables me to get it out of the way of my beard. Had a LOT of beard-rustle in my first attempt at this
It's great to have you aboard and we look forward to hearing lots more from you soon!

I have noted a trend with corporations that when their product line expands and diversifies beyond their initial core products, quality tends to slide. It's a common trend and I've seen it with climbing gear and other industries, too.
The Logitech headset worked fine for it's earlier purposes and where more options in recording were not necessary. But they were mice manufacturers originally and that's where their real expertise lies.
This is probably a discussion best left for the gear forum but I am holding out high hopes for the Plantronic-- it's actually a gaming headset and not the kind that are found hanging in most offices (I use one, too, when I ocassionally find my way to my formal place of work). I ordered it discount from a music house in New York and it should arrive Monday or Tuesday. I'll let you know what I think of it.
In the gear forum of course!
