The Little Colonel by Annie Fellows Johnston (1863-1931) .
[notify=xxxx]Click here to be notified by email when this book is complete![/notify]

THIS PROJECT IS COMPLETE AND CAN BE FOUND HERE:
http://librivox.org/the-little-colonel-by-annie-fellows-johnston/
The scene of this story is laid in Kentucky. Its heroine is a small girl, who is known as the Little Colonel, on account of her fancied resemblance to an old-school Southern gentleman, whose fine estate and old family are famous in the region. (Introduction taken from original book.)
  • Target completion date: March 2010
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): Standard, but check against text
(note to PL-er: text is read from hard copy, please compare with etext below)
  • Text source: http://www.gutenberg.org/etext/9407

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project will be opened up to a group project as soon as a Book Coordinator can be found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to have it re-instated).

Hello!

Are you going to read this from a hard copy, or from an online source?

If the source is online, please make sure to provide a link to it in your first post.

Thanks, and have fun!

Hi,

It is being read from an original copy of the book. I imagine it is the same as the project gutenberg copy, however.

I actually already recorded this completely three months ago and finally got around to finish editing it last week and got the nerve up to post :-).

Ok, you can go ahead and upload the files to my folder, whenever you're ready.

It will have to be proof-listened, so I'll ask the proof-listener to compare it with the Project Gutenberg version, just to make sure it's the same.

I'll come back with the Magic Window.

Thank you, JC. I appreciate it.

I just realized I made a really stupid mistake.

I was converting the audacity files to mp3 - the first file name was correct as thelittlecolonel_01_johnston

But the next three I forgot to put THElittlecolonel and just put littlecolonel.

I already uploaded the first 4 chapters to librivox, so that is where the problem is.

I am so sorry!! I was trying to do everything just right.

Can the file name be changed without to much trouble, or should I redo it again correctly.

Let me know. I am so sorry to cause any undo trouble.

actually, it would be better if the file names were without the leading article. They're fairly easy to change, so don't worry about them too much. Just make sure that you have the links to all the files, so I'll be able to find them in my folder.

Thanks!

Thank you Betty and Jc. Much appreciated.

If anyone wants to come up with a better book description than what I took from the back of the book, you are more than welcome to do so! I'm not very good at coming up with something like that.

I can say now that

Sections 1,2,3,4,5 and 6 are all PL OK!

Very well read.

I'll listen to the remaining four files tomorrow.

A fun story so far, despite the use of the "N" word which was so unnecessary for the author to use,
