A lone space traveler arrives on Earth seeking a new planet to colonize, his own world dead. At the same time a mysterious plague has infected Earth that will wipe out all life. Can a lone scientist stop the plague and save the world? Or will the alien find himself on another doomed planet? (Summary by Mark Nelson)
IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project will be opened up to a group project as soon as a Book Coordinator can be found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to have it re-instated).
The reader will record the following at the beginning and end of each file: Start of recording (Intro)
"Chapter [number] of [Book title]. - This is a LibriVox recording. All LibriVox recordings are in the public domain. For more information, or to volunteer, please visit: librivox DOT org"
If you wish, say: "Recording by [your name]"
Say: "Title, by Author. [Translated by [translator]]. [Chapter]"
For the second and all subsequent sections, you may optionally use the shortened form of this intro disclaimer:
"Chapter [number] of [Book title]. This LibriVox recording is in the Public Domain.
If you wish, say: "Recording by [your name]"
Say: "Title, by Author. [Translated by [translator]]. [Chapter]"
End of recording
At the end of the section, say:
“End of [Chapter]"
If you wish, say: "Recording by [your name], [city, your blog, podcast, web address]"
At the end of the book, say (in addition): "End of Title, by Author. [Translated by [translator]]."
There should be 5 seconds silence at the end of the recording, or 10 seconds for files longer than 30 minutes.
Example filename
titleinoneword_##_authorsurname.mp3
Example ID3 V2 tags
Title: ## - [Section title]
Artist: Author name
Album: Book title

Instructions for soloist: transfer of files (completed recordings) Please always post in this forum thread when you've sent a file.
Also, post the length of the recording (file duration: mm:ss) together with the link.
Upload your file with the LibriVox Uploader (when your upload is complete, you will receive a link - please post it in this thread): http://upload.librivox.org
(If you have trouble reading the image above, please message an admin) You'll need to select an MC, which for this project is: pw - PaulW
Hey, Mark, I hope you have better scans on this one than you did with Manybooks' version of Piper's Cosmic Computer. Give me a bit to get your window set up, and we'll be ready to roll.
EDIT: OK, Window is set up and you are all set!

Thanks Paul.
Actually the scans are a bit dicey. Lot's of obvious typo's, but hey - I live on the edge.
Request posted in L&E Wanted for a proof-listener. Moving to Going Solo (which I should have done days ago, sorry ).

Well THAT was one sloppy read. In my own pathetic defense, the book was recorded in three days right before Xmas. Fatigue obviously affects accuracy. Once I get all the comments I'll make all the fixes.

Other than these little slips, it's a great reading.
Regards.

There are some stumbles/repeats that I have noted with the approximate times:
Chapter 7
At 09:42 there is a repetition, reader says: No, Yes, No, Yes. Text just says: No, Yes.
At 21:32 > reader: there is something new. Text: there is nothing new.
I uploaded a new section 3 with the edits above. The rest of section 3 and all of section 4 look minor and don't affect the meaning, so I'm leaving them as-is.
