Source text (please read only from this text!): https://archive.org/details/sim_good-words-and-sunday-magazine_1870_11/mode/2upGood Words was an English monthly magazine directed at evangelicals and nonconformists, particularly of the lower middle classes. It contained overtly religious material as well as serialized novels, dialogues, articles on science and art, essays, sketches of travel, and poetry. The content was chosen with an eye to ensuring that the devout could read it on Sundays without sin.
The January 1870 issue featured the first few chapters of the novels Carlino and Dorothy Fox. It also contained, among other things, articles on travels in North India and the country of the Vaudois, a sketch of the lives of Newcastle Colliers, and pieces discussing aspects of Christian thought.(Summary by Elsie Selwyn)
