I'm interested in knowing if this book can be recorded by LV. I found an English Translation in the Library of India. I have recorded things from them before, but can't remember if all of their material is PD in America.

Thank you for any assistance you may offer.

Copyright term in India differs from other parts of the world.
In this case the book you've linked was published in Great Britain in 1949, so it would not be PD in the U.S. until Jan 1, 2045. See https://guides.library.cornell.edu/copyright/publicdomain

Jo
I note that three of his first books are in the public domain, The Theory of Money and Credit, Nation, State, and Economy, and Socialism: an Economic and Sociological Analysis, and that von Mises is unrepresented on Librivox. If anyone's interested, I would certainly contribute. Thanks.
I am certainly interested, and will put it on my list of things to look into, behind 17 other projects which all ready to set up. Who knows, von Mises might bump a few of them out of the line.Arden wrote: ↑August 17th, 2022, 4:54 pm I note that three of his first books are in the public domain, The Theory of Money and Credit, Nation, State, and Economy, and Socialism: an Economic and Sociological Analysis, and that von Mises is unrepresented on Librivox. Is there any interest in simply starting at the beginning? I mean 'The Theory of Money and Credit', his first book from 1912. I would be happy to BC for the book.
Google Books has it as full view, which indicates it is not covered by copyright. Additionally, the Mises Institute holds all of its works in public domain to my knowledge.

And I would be happy to BC or DPL any of these myself.progressingamerica wrote: ↑March 3rd, 2024, 2:39 pm Is there any interest in simply starting at the beginning? I mean 'The Theory of Money and Credit', his first book from 1912. I would be happy to BC for the book.

I'd like to start one but it looks like HathiTrust might be a blocker here. Been looking around further, the original publications for many could be freely recorded but they would have to be done in German. Google Books being in full view might not be sufficient because it does not explicitly state the status.msfry wrote: ↑March 3rd, 2024, 2:55 pmAnd I would be happy to BC or DPL any of these myself.progressingamerica wrote: ↑March 3rd, 2024, 2:39 pm Is there any interest in simply starting at the beginning? For the English translations, some might be out of copyright but it doesn't look easy to confirm if they are, others might require an endorsement from the Mises Institute before anything could be done and even then it might not get approval. Not sure if anybody has done anything like that before.
Alas, I'm not an expert in certifying PD status for our projects.

This one is definitely possible since it's full-view.

This is a really great find. Maybe we should go ahead and get it started then.

It's only safely PD in the US though.progressingamerica wrote: ↑March 23rd, 2024, 10:46 amThis is a really great find. Maybe we should go ahead and get it started then.
