Don't interpret my tongue-in-cheek comment about the need to immerse myself in small-town Quebec as meaning I don't want to fix it anymore Betsy- just that my inexperience is a hindrance, particularly in a longer passage such as this one. If you have any specific words or groups that are particularly off, fire away! Quality is job one with me, and the satisfaction comes from thinking that somebody (even fluent Francophones) will enjoy listening and not be the least irritated by my delivery. The next chapter is more in my wheelhouse, language-wise, I think. Thanks.

Hi Meredith - in a previous project I PLed, the description had a warning that the text contained some potentially offensive words. Since this book uses the "n" word quite freely, perhaps some caution should be included in the description? Just a thought - not my decision by any means. - Betsy

Well, there I go again messing up a French sound - I keep this up and they'll be sharpening up that guillotine (GEE yoh TEEN) for me!. That was actually a new word for me, so at least now if I'm able to work it into a conversation I'll say it right!

I had always thought that lyric from "Black Mountain Blues" - "...babies cry for liquor" was an exaggeration. "Tain't so", per the author! I love reading history, so please allow me to go on to 7 - 'A Leaf from the Past"
