MaryAnnSpiegel wrote: December 8th, 2023, 8:35 pm Yes, Abel and Martha sing a song when they first appear in Scene 1. Martha has recorded it, so if you want to do the part and sing along with her, that would be great. If you want to read the part and not sing, then just skip the song. As long as one of Martha and Abel have sung it, I think it will be fine in the final edited version.

Ah well I am terrible at singing and very not musically inclined, I remember someone trying to explain the concept of being in tune before and I couldn't even hear the difference in the examples or understand what I was doing wrong so I avoid things with singing. If you're happy with no singing I could do it or you can hold out and see if a singer is interested

Inkell,

I am happy to have you read the part and leave the singing to Martha!

I'll put you in the MW for those sections.

It looks like prologue and scene 1 were marked as PL OK already. Were these ones that needed corrections previously? Or are they put together (I think earlier the songs were separated into separate recordings).

Otherwise, scene 2 is PL OK!

Thank you for catching those 2 lines in Scene 1 as well. I'll put in a note for that

Thank you, Elijah. That is very kind of you to say. I suppose we are our own worst critics. Still, I don't think I'll be trying out for the lead in "Hamilton" any time soon! :)

"We three kings" - Choir Member 1, Scene 5 (3:29)
https://librivox.org/uploads/maryannspiegel/mysteryplay_choir2_scene5.mp3

I recorded it while listening to the organ instrumental, which only plays one verse. I don't know how you go about doing all the compilations, but just to note that someone is going to have to check the spacing between verses for all the singers...

well, I have done the thing and this file is half singing

first you have me singing lower which is bad, then you have me singing higher which is also bad, but choices make things better right?

but after that I am just saying words which can't be anything but an improvement over the previous singing

https://librivox.org/uploads/maryannspiegel/mysteryplay_gaspar_5.mp3 (6:59)

sometimes I think about trying to learn to carry a tune so I can be mildly more helpful on librivox and less annoying should I ever live close enough to shapenote singing to start going again, but I've not managed to carry though on that yet

feel free to comment on anything you wish to and I will try to make it better

Here is the Narrator for Scene 4:

I have Scene 5 recorded, but I thought I'd wait for a report on this in case I've done something wrong that I may need to correct first.

"The First Nowell" (3:26)

I decided to be an alto, as the melody line was way too high for me.

Thank you Larry and Gill.

I'll ping Elijah and ask him to be sure and PL your section right away Larry so you can have his feedback as you finish up 5.

Great work Larry! I can certainly say this gets a PL OK! Feel free to proceed with Scene 5
