I found something that Aldred ought to say but it is under Mabel's name: "Mabel Farrington: "I get so stiff if I sit still all the time," declared Aldred"
I should have the rest of the recordings out by the middle of next week. :9:

PL Notes:
  • (3:46) That line was definitely Aldred's, but it looks like you read another line that was meant for her: Aldred: "Besides, the better view is on this side of the carriage, and we can't see it properly from our compartment." I'm not sure if that was just your mistake, or if it is really Mabel's line. :?
  • There is a misread line at (4:02), the book said: And each year the collection seems to grow bigger. But I hear: And each of the collections seem to grow bigger.
Thank you,
Thank you for PLing this for me!
I looked inside of the script and that line that I read was definitely Aldred's..I don't know how it got in there. :?
Anyway will fix soon.

No problem! I just noted that, because I didn't want it to get confusing when editing time comes.

Here are Dora's first three chapters:

Chapter 2: https://librivox.org/uploads/rapunzelina/fourthformfriendship_doramaxwell_2.mp3 (0:31)
Chapter 3: https://librivox.org/uploads/rapunzelina/fourthformfriendship_doramaxwell_3.mp3 (4:12)
Chapter 5: https://librivox.org/uploads/rapunzelina/fourthformfriendship_doramaxwell_5.mp3 (3:36)

Also, there is one line that is in Chapter 3 that is mistakenly given to Dora. I didn't read it since I was almost certain that it was meant to be read by a different character (the speaker addresses Dora by name). I think it should be Aldred speaking, but I'm not sure.

The quote is: "Well, the kettle's just singing; we'll wait till it boils. Have you a pencil, Dora, and a scrap of paper?" (p.18 of the script).

P.S.: I wasn't sure if I pronounced Myfanwy correctly/how others are pronouncing it for the sake of consistency. I used this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jd8VJSWimAM) as a guide, but I am perfectly happy to rerecord the line with a different pronunciation, just let me know :)

Thank you. I'll have to fix the script. Thanks for pointing it out.

I'm not sure how to pronounce Myfanwy. I just tried in my recordings for Lorna. I don't think that I'm doing it right. I'm sure that other people have been pronouncing it differently and it would be hard to get everyone to use the same pronunciation. Whatever works for you.

Thanks,

If it helps any: I went for the same pronunciation as Elsie, in the chapter of narration I read.

Hi Victoria, I'd like to take Ursula if the role is still available!

I have a few questions if you'd be so kind to answer as this would be my first DR project on Librivox. I'd want to make sure I'm doing it correctly right away to avoid taking up our time correcting on the back-end. If these were answered on the first page, please let me know, I just didn't see them:

When one reads their character's lines they go chapter by chapter and only record their lines, leaving a few seconds in between each one - is this correct?
(Then you or whomever is the editor puts everyone's recordings into one project and cuts it all together? (This sounds like a remarkable amount of work!))

Also out of curiosity, given that you don't know how other characters are reading their lines, and you're unable to react to their particular reading, how does this come together? Do you ever have to request people re-do lines for the vibe to fit together better?

Is there a script version that has one's particular character's lines highlighted? I was unable to find it if so, and if not that's no problem.

Do you have any tips for doing a DR? I'm all ears.

Thank you,
Libby (Dorotli)

Hi Dorotli!

Ursula is yours!

When you read your character's lines it goes into seperate files per chapter as you see in the MW. But there need to be 3-5 seconds inbetween each line.

The editor cuts each line and puts it together into the final project. It takes a while!

The BC, MC, DPL, and parts-PL can listen to the files in the MW. If one of us doesn't like the way someone else reads we don't tell them to rerecord it. If the DPL or parts-PL thinks that something that was misread changes the meaning of the words spoken then they will comment about it just like they would in a collaborative project.
Hope this helps,
