Hello!
I’m a complete noob here, so I’d like to request assistance in assigning to myself 74 and 75 (sonnets written… and the fruit shop)
I hope I’m requesting in the right place!
Also, as a noob, I’m not understanding the acronyms. Is there a link to a key (or a decoder ring?)
Thanks much!
Betty

You can use your browser's search function to look up the acronym you're curious about.

We do, however, request that our new readers first complete a one-minute test recording to check out all of your technical specifications and any reading issues.
New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
Here is a direct link to instructions for the one-minute sample recording:
https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=1-Minute_Test
Among the useful information there you will find instructions for completing your test recording. Once you have the "OK" on that, post again here and you are free to record for this project. Let us know how you would like to be credited in the LibriVox catalog - real name, pseudonym or other nickname.
Tricia has given you the link to the glossary.
We have a lot of tutorials, and the forums are useful for browsing.

Hi Larry,
Quick question sir. Is there a preferred time interval between the different elements in "The Best Poetry of 1915, Part 1" that I am working on? If so, what would that be?
Thank you!
Robert

That is a great question, and I'm so glad you asked. In general, I would say no more than a second, or second and a half at the most.
Pauses sound a lot longer when listening to a recording, that it does to the reader, in the absence of visual cues. Record a few elements, then play them back, close your eyes, and see if the gaps sound natural, or if you find yourself waiting to see what comes next, or if you can't tell there was a break there. That is what I try to go by. But, I think you will find the above guideline a good one.

Just a couple of notes:
The silences are just a bit too long.
At the beginning, we want no more than one second, so this could be trimmed.
At the end, there should be about 5 seconds, and I see close to 7, so this also needs to be trimmed.
When you upload your corrected file, do NOT add .mp3 because that is added when you save the file as .mp3, otherwise we get it duplicated as in your first upload.

You've taken what could be a boring section and made it very engaging! I really enjoyed hearing about the different poets and books.
PL OK, of course.
