Friendly Links in Forum Signature -- How?

I feel I should know this and I am embarrassed to admit I don't!

My knowledge of HTML(?) is next to zero -- what's the code to put "friendly" links in the "Edit Signature" tab on on forum user profile? I'm able to add a simple link, but how do I enter it so it displays as friendly text instead of a URL?

Abashedly grateful for any help,

Sort of like this:

So when you select the link button, change it to: (text here of what you'd like to say

Hope that makes sense! Do make sure to have zero spaces between the brackets, or the =, or the link
