Thank you. I've put the link into the Magic Window and our wonderful DPL will get back to you when she's had a chance to listen to it.

For future uploads, can you please indicate the length of your recording? This helps with the various administration tasks that go on in the background.

Hey SuZanne!

Good job on your recording :D Here are your PL notes:

At the beginning of your recording, you have several seconds of silence. We need it to be between .5 or 1 second of silence.

At the end of your recording, you only have one second of silence. We need 5 seconds of silence at the end of your recording.

Finally, you have two minor errors in your file name. Currently, the file is named "truestoriesofgirlheorines_19_everettgreen_128Kb. When you have fixed the issues and reupload, please make sure the file is named "truestoriesofgirlheroines_19_everettgreen_128kb"

Hi,

I am really sorry, the recording is almost done, ran into some technical issues and had some health problems. I can finish it this weekend, I know that is a couple days late, I just won't have time to make the edits I need to til then.

Please let me know if that is ok.

Thanks,

Thanks for letting us know. A couple of days doesn't matter and we all know about life getting in the way.

Hi,

I just wanted to touch base. I re-recorded my audio but it is tinny and there a some plosives. I am trying my best to fix it but I am not happy with it, honestly pretty frustrated  . I really seem to have messed up my recording space. I can submit what I have and see if it is salvageable(I am not experienced enough to know) or I can just try to re-record. Let me know what your thoughts are.

Best,

Kassandra

I've just listened to the first couple of minutes and it sounds fine to me. I'll leave it to Elsie to have a full listen through when she has a chance.

Thanks

My sincere apologies for the last minute submission - Being my first attempt, this all proved a little
more nerve wracking than expected :)

Please do let me know if there are any issues that I should attend to.

Thank you. I've put the link in the MW and Elsie will have a listen in the next couple of days, then get back to you.

Hey, Kassandra!

Sorry for taking a while to PL. I was moving between two houses and did not have the time to PL like I normally do.

Your reading of this section is flawless. Yay!

However, you have some technical problems with this section.

1) Your audio file has a variable bit rate averaging around 102kbps. LibriVox requires all its audio files to have a constant bit rate of 126kbps.

Thankfully, this is pretty simple to fix. You need to reexport your audio from Audacity. This can be done either from your original Audacity project file in which you recorded your audio if you still have it or by opening your section's mp3 file in Audacity. Then, click Export as MP3 in Audacity. Next, a window will open. At the bottom of the window, beneath where you can type in the file name, there is a section called Format Options.

Within the Format Options section, next to Bit Rate Mode, you need to select Constant. Then, next to Quality, choose 126 kbps from the drop down box. Then, hit save and your audio will be the correct bit rate.

If you want to look at the LibriVox Wiki page on technical specifications, you can read it here: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Tech_Specs

2) LibriVox needs there to be a silence of .5-1 second at the beginning of the audio file. Currently, you have 3 seconds at the beginning. Could you delete 2 seconds of that?

3) OPTIONAL: You have some persistent white noise in the background of your recording. It is not super loud and does not distract from your reading so this is purely optional. However, if you want to get rid of the white noise, you can do so in Audacity using the Noise Cleaning option. You can read more about this here: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=Noise_Cleaning

In the future, if you want to double check your audio files' tech specs yourself, you can use the Checker program found here: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=Checker

So to reiterate - you need to fix issues 1 and 2 and reupload. Issue 3 is purely optional and only a suggestion.

Hey, Elluuseewhy!

Your recording was great! You only have two tiny little things to fix:

1) LibriVox requires all audio files to have .5-1 second of silence in the beginning. You currently have 2 seconds. Could you delete 1 second of it?

2) You have 10 seconds at the end of your audio file. Usually, 5 seconds is ideal. Could you delete 5 seconds off the end?

Thanks,

Elsie :D
