Here's a fun one by Strauss Jr. (I'm classical music man as can be seen by my name ) https://youtu.be/WKU2uQpU9Lo
I'd come across this version of "Les Sauvages" from Rameau's opera "Les Indes Galantes". *
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3zegtH-acXE
So I've been playing a piano version of it.
Then, just now, I heard a real pianist:

Sigh,
Barbara
*Perhaps Librivoxers from Illinois are aware of the inspiration of this music - (from Wikipedia) In 1725, French settlers in Illinois sent Chief Agapit Chicagou of the Mitchigamea and five other chiefs to Paris. On 25 November 1725, they met with King Louis XV. Chicagou had a letter read pledging allegiance to the crown. They later danced three kinds of dances in the Théâtre-Italien, inspiring Rameau to compose his rondeau Les Sauvages.

I've recently fallen in love with a song by the name of "The Most Unwanted Song." The songwriters set out to include all of the things in it that people hate most. You've got bagpipe, tuba, banjo, kids screaming about Christmas (and other various holidays), and a soprano rapping about being a cowboy. I actually really love to put it on in the background when I'm working of something that takes some focus. Is that weird?
Oh, also, it's over 20 minutes long.

Ha! I heard this years ago on community radio up here and it's amazing. My favorite part is the kids singing about Labor Day.mightyfelix wrote: ↑December 1st, 2022, 6:49 pm I've recently fallen in love with a song by the name of "The Most Unwanted Song." Early Fleetwood Mac! Two live video recordings (both from the same long piece):-
I found My Baby's Sweet on youtube a while ago (I now have it on a couple of CDs, but it's much better live!)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L0UzOX9dpKw
and the series of Fleetwood Mac pieces starts with a very early Shake your Money Maker (in black and white)

How can I avoid jumping around, fifty years too late? EDIT: Now that's what rhythm and blues should sound like!

"I think, therefore I am, I think." Solomon Cohen, in Terry Pratchett's Dodger
Heron, a folk-rock group from England. I just discovered them!
"[Heron] quickly realised that they disliked recording in a studio environment. In 1970, they stayed at Pook's family farmhouse at Appleford-on-Thames in Berkshire, and recorded an album with a mobile studio in a field behind the house, picking up ambient noises such as bird song."
The bird song is such a lovely touch!

That sounds cool. I may have to look them up. I've been listening to Jack Johnson quite a bit lately.KevinS wrote: ↑January 13th, 2023, 4:41 pm Heron, a folk-rock group from England. I just discovered them!
