COMPLETE[PLAY]The Merry Devil of Edmonton by Shakespeare - thw
Fabell (which I pronunced Fa-Bell -though only in my voice credit since I speak it not else) - is ready in the MW for PL.
Thanks, Todd
Thanks, Todd
I said the name like "fable" but that's ok, I'm just a lowly devil
Fabell excellently portrayed, with the needed enthusiasm for mischief of youth. loved it and completely PL ok. Thank you

Is Chamberlaine a woman? I am confused by the line "Aye, sir, my M. is up". If "M." means "Mister", does this instance refer to Chamberlaine's husband? If Chamberlaine is a woman, I would like to relinquish the role.
Claim removed.
Thanks, Todd

Hi, here are the stage directions:
https://librivox.org/uploads/toddhw/merrydevilofedmonton_narrator_1.mp3 @ 6.06
https://librivox.org/uploads/toddhw/merrydevilofedmonton_narrator_2.mp3 @ 5.41

I've pronounced Mountchensey as such throughout, correcting the four or five occasions the name is given as "Mountchesney".
Should this play really be listed on the audiofile and in our catalogue as "by William Shakespeare", given that that attribution has been rejected by scholars for centuries? It seems odd to read that at the beginning of each act, knowing it to be wrong. Maybe the opening words of the audiofile could be changed to something like "The Merry Devil of Edmonton, authorship unknown but once purported to be by William Shakespeare".

I'll think about the author name in the intros and final outro....
Thanks, Todd

OK. If you need anything to be re-recorded let me know
thank you Michael, another excellent narration for the stage directions. And so cool you also got the prologue, you are reading it with panache.MichaelMaggs wrote: ↑August 23rd, 2022, 5:08 amHi, here are the stage directions:

Acts 3, 4 and 5 are PL ok right away.
Act 1:
> at 1:37: "nuns and attendants" - these need their separate voice credits, here: "Nun" and "Prioress" - Todd always marks them separately in the MW for reference, if such groupings appear in the script or if any people are missing in the list
Act 2:
> at 1:25: there are over 4 minutes of re-recording after the end of act 2. All this can get cut
thank you

this was wonderfully entertaining, thank you Sandra. This prioress so reminds me of a Monty Python character. Excellent for this rather farcical play.catharmaiden wrote: ↑September 1st, 2022, 3:10 amthe Prioress: https://librivox.org/uploads/toddhw/merrydevilofedmonton_prioress_3.mp3 (1:53)
