Yeah, pirates are so romanticized, but they really were not nice people.Amendis wrote: ↑May 17th, 2021, 12:00 pm https://librivox.org/uploads/icequeen/famouspirates_15_chatterton_128kb.mp3

I've put you in for Section 13
Tip: It really makes it easier for us if you include the Section Number when making a claim.

Well, these are both rather long sections for your first recordings, but if you feel up to it, I will put you in for them.
I listened to your test recording, and you have a good recording style and sound, so I think you can handle them. Just be careful of your plosive sounds. Mark didn't mention it but very noticeable. You might use a pop filter, or just back off from the microphone a bit, or speak at an angle so those puffs don't hit the mike. Not a huge issue, but just something to keep in mind.
Also, please let us know exactly how you would like to be listed in the LibriVox catalog -- real name, pseudonym or any nickname you wish. This is how you will be credited for all of your LV work.
All the best and welcome to Librivox!

Ah ok, sounds like I've been a bit ambitious with my first choices then! Thank you for putting me in for them. I hope I can rise to the challenge!silverquill wrote: ↑May 18th, 2021, 8:58 pmWell, these are both rather long sections for your first recordings, but if you feel up to it, I will put you in for them.

I appreciate your feedback on my test recording. This is useful to know and I will do what I can to manage those plosive sounds.
I would like my name to appear as 'Lindsey Clark' in the LibriVox catalog please.
Thanks for the welcome. I'm excited to be here.
Thank you, Russ. Wonderful work! Both are PL-OK. One tiny note for an optional fix on chapter 19: there’s an audible knock at 19:07.Shasta wrote: ↑May 17th, 2021, 3:23 pm Here are Chapters 14 and 19.

And a personal note that I meant to leave about your first readings: I really appreciate your excellent pronunciation of “boatswain”. Since I had never heard it spoken before, I was pronouncing it phonetically. I had time to fix my own recording after hearing yours - thank you!

I've assigned this section to you
It is the longest section in the book
Only two open sections left!

I will happily claim the last two open chapters (16 & 17)

Only the dark, dark night shows to my eyes the stars;
After the clangor of organ majestic, or chorus, or perfect band,
Silent, athwart my soul, moves the symphony true."
