this is the first chapter of a book called Ubirajara published in1874 , the last indianist novel by José de Alencar. Here the subject is the indigenous heroism in the pre-Columbian period. The book has a historical foundation and shows the defense of indigenous customs by promoting a systematic confrontation between the civilized and the indigenous to demonstrate its advantage over the last.
