Hello,

I know I already claimed a section from this book, but would it be possible to also claim chapter 7?

Another member in this club was eager to contribute to LibriVox, and thought this would be a great place to start :)

Certanly, you may claim multiple sections as long as you feel capable of recording them. 7 is yours!!

I would like to claim sections 11 and 12.

If I could be credited as Adeline Chris. That would be most amenable.

All the best,
Addie

Great! Thank you.

I would like to use my name Meg Thams rather than the forum name in the catalog.

Kindly,

Meg

Welcome Addie and a big welcome to LibriVox! :D I have assigned those sections to you but before you record them, please make and upload a 1 minute test to be sure your recording set up is OK. Instructions can be found in our Wiki and in the first post of this project but Here is a video that may help too: How to Make your 1 minute test.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BlaRY_-bcfs and then How to Upload your 1 minute test How to Upload your 1 minute test

(You may post the link to your test in this forum and I will see it much more quickly)

Would this work?

Thanks
Yes, it works very well. So you know, the chapter volume is now 88.7 dB - very close to the center of the range.

Chapter 5 - The Cold Weather Coat - PL OK.
Thanks for the fixes.

(OK, I have my morning coffee in hand; now I can go on. A lot of chapters in The Tale of Solomon Owl have arrived in the past few hours so I'll start checking them out.)

LibriVox has lots of abbreviations that take some time to get used to. PL stands for Proof Listen - a related abbreviation you'll see is DPL, Dedicated Proof Listener: someone who has volunteered to check all the chapters in a project - that's me in this case. The PL is mostly technical stuff - making sure the compression is set to the correct bitrate, making sure there is not too little or too much silence at the beginning and end of a section, making sure the standard LibriVox text at the beginning and end of a section is there, making sure the file name used for the upload is exactly correct (because with the number of open projects going on at any one time any file with a typo in the name is as good as lost) and so on. Your prooflistener also listens through the file to make sure there aren't editing errors like duplicated or missing sentences, awkward l.o.n.g. pauses... stuff like that.

The glossary you're asking for is at https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Glossary.

Chapter 4 - An Odd Bargain - is PL OK. For future chapters I'll encourage you to put a bit more silence at the beginning - about half a second is just right. (Your chapter had under 2/10ths second of silence before you started talking.)

A short chapter. If I were a frog I would be worried, too, with an owl staring at me.
