You can do the same for the last 5 seconds where you likely used the generate silence effect. The meter doesn't move at all.
It may be that using the silence effect at the closing 5 seconds adjusts Checker downward, but that's only something I've heard. I don't know if that's true.
But you can use that first one second as a sample in the noise reduction effect and then, for the second step, select the whole recording and press 'Go,' or whatever the lower button says. (Hahah! I don't remember as it's so common for me.)
If you wanted, I bet you could find one of Phil's videos that explains noise reduction. (In fact, that's the main topic of our next unofficial LV Zoom sessions.)
