Thanks! I'll think carefully about taking on a word perfect PL gig again, or at least make sure my other decks are quite cleared when I do! Gotta be in the right frame of mind to concentrate, and since I usually do my PL bits at bedtime, all too often I've been zzzzzzz before too long.

I got this though, we are making progress and will get there soon!

You're doing great work. I imagine all of us think so and most of us know how hard the work can sometimes be.

PL Notes Section 6:

Excellent reading, just one small note:

7:14 - text is "respectively", I hear "respectfully"

Section 10:

The volume is extremely low (I measure it at 64.1 dB via Checker; requirements are that it be between 86 and 92 dB.

The "amplify" function on Audacity won't work for such a large volume increase. I asked around how to do this because I am not familiar with the process, and Soupy/Craig told me:

"I use MP3Gain to increase volume.

https://sourceforge.net/projects/mp3gain/

Librivox suggests using it.
Just set it to 89 and the program will let you know how much it has to be increased and then you increase it using the same program."

So if you can, please get that program and apply it to your file and re-upload.

I have tried to prooflisten but the volume is too low right now for me to make it out well, so I will come back once the volume is adjusted.

Thanks!

Section 20:

Nice clear reading! Most corrections involve using "quote" and "end of quote" in front of and after all quoted material, but there are also a few dropped bits of text (it's hard to see them all sometimes when they come in a forest of footnotes and citations!)

2:06 Need "quote" before quoted section in text beginning with "to achieve a reasonable balance" and "end of quote" at the end of quotation. (hereafter "Quote/EOQ")

2:22 Skipped several sentences of text, from "This county unit system..." through "...nominated the others"

4:15 Quote/EOQ

4:38 skipped some text between "...another unit for" and "30,000 persons". Missing text begins with "each of the next two brackets"

6:01 Quote/EOQ

6:12 Quote/EOQ

8:51 Quote/EOQ

9:37 "moot" I hear "mute"

10:10 "moot" same as above

10:11 Quote/EOQ

11:35 Quote/EOQ

12:12 Quote/EOQ

12:31 Quote/EOQ

14:23 "county unit system" I hear "counting unit system"

16:58 Quote/EOQ

17:12 Quote/EOQ

17:16 Quote/EOQ

18:17 Quote/EOQ

18:33 Missing phrase "As we stated in Gomillion v. Lightfoot"

18:33 Quote/EOQ

No worries! This is challenging stuff.

I've only managed to get one of my own to PL OK on the first go round - several had multiple ones - and the one that went on the first try was under 200 words!

Thanks Colleen,

I will get section 16 corrected and back to you by weekend's end. I am almost done self editing my other section too. I warn you, it has a lot of weird quotes within quotes …..I tried to make it sound good but it may need more or less quotes! Thanks for all your work on this stuff...you can tell lawyers wrote these ! (I am married to one, so I can say that :) )

Gretchen--

If it helps, just quote/end of quote all the quotes, even the quotes inside of quotes. It seems confusing but if we are all totally consistent, it reduces confusion in the long run.

Thanks for all you do -- it's a good reading and I look forward to your next one!
