Hi,
If you wish to have something in Spanish, there are these books that come to my mind:
-two versions of the tales by Perrault. I think I like better the latest one: https://librivox.org/cuentos-de-hadas-by-charles-perrault-2/
or perhaps:
https://librivox.org/platero-y-yo-by-juan-ramon-jimenez/
or
https://librivox.org/fabulas-literarias-by-tomas-de-iriarte/
or this bilingual English/Spanish edition of a Spanish tale, read by two different readers:
https://librivox.org/el-raton-perez-perez-the-mouse-by-luis-coloma/
Now not in Spanish, but in English:
For somehow boys and girls, I have been involved in several books in librivox about classics adapted for them, such as these ones:
https://librivox.org/the-odyssey-for-boys-and-girls-by-alfred-john-church/
(There is also: https://librivox.org/the-iliad-for-boys-and-girls-by-alfred-j-church/)
and
https://librivox.org/stories-of-don-quixote-by-james-baldwin/
Baldwin wrote a number of books for children which are in librivox:
https://librivox.org/author/1707?primary_key=1707&search_category=author&search_page=1&search_form=get_results
Cheers,
Basquetteur

ROMANCE
I am happy about all suggestions concerning romances and romantic reads (bonus if it's a crime of love ) Because it's summer, I'd like to keep this light and fluffy and fun, so no tragedies this time around please!
Especially welcome are suggestions of plays and poetry.
All languages welcome!
Thanks for your help!

The theme for next month is:
Our Furry Friends
I'd love to feature recordings about animals or that have an important animal character. Anything goes: from puppies to kittens, from roosters to cows, from fish to insects, from spiders to alligators... You get the idea

Nice!
I do see a typo, on the "With Her in Ourland" paragraph: "How she will far in male-dominated America"

https://librivox.org/lady-into-fox-by-david-garnett/ if it's not been done already.
Though whether the fox is actual or a figment of the man's (or woman's) troubled mind may be debatable.

Oh, I love the topic you've chosen for October!
May I suggest including at least one work about the dangers to our furry and/or feathered friends:
The Extermination of the American Bison by William T. Hornaday
Our Vanishing Wildlife by William T. Hornaday
The Passenger Pigeon by William B. Mershon

As far as animal characters go, The Story of Doctor Dolittle and The Voyages of Doctor Dolittle both have plenty!
DR version with lots of animal voices: https://librivox.org/the-story-of-doctor-dolittle-dramatic-reading-by-hugh-lofting/
Solo reads (both by Karen Savage):
https://librivox.org/the-story-of-doctor-dolittle-version-3-by-hugh-lofting/
https://librivox.org/the-voyages-of-doctor-dolittle-by-hugh-lofting-2/
And a sweet little short story by one of my favourite authors (Edith Nesbit): The Prince, Two Mice and some Kitchen Maids

Thank you ladies!
The "Lady into Fox" is interesting - did you know that in Japanese folklore, evil fox spirits disguise themselves into beautiful women to lead men astray? Interesting connection we have here
"The Passenger Pigeon" is a painful book. Just reading the summary makes me want to cry. At least there are some bison left (even though they may not be complete pure-breds)

Usually not my listening topic, but perhaps Little Fuzzy, if it hasn't been offered before? https://librivox.org/little-fuzzy-by-h-beam-piper/
Are they just "animals" or "persons"?
