I don't want to claim chapter 13 necessarily, I just have a question.
Could the distances be read "From New York to Atlanta, 876 miles; from Chicago, 733 miles; from Philadelphia, 785 miles…"? Ultimately there'd be way more than 658 words read.

This is probably true.
Word counts are given just as an aid to the reader.
Sometimes projects will list only the number of pages, give an estimate of the word count, or give none at all (especially true in poetry). The only thing we try to be precise about is the file length of the recordings, but even that is only a guide to help the DPL, BC and MC for their various tasks. When a project is compiled and sent to Archive, the actual times are calculated, and word counts don't appear. At least that is my understanding of the way this all works.

This looks like a really funny read! May I claim sections 50 through 54? :)

Here are sections 50, 51, 52, 54:

These things are hilarious to read I thoroughly enjoyed the section on Time Difference... it's just a seemingly random list of times in different locations (and I didn't realise how much of a mess it was before Standard Time became a thing!)

I have a question about section 53.
Should I do anything in particular to make that clear since it's so explicitly referring to Italics? To Produce Different Colors.—The color printed in italics may be made by mixing the other two colors. Purple, red with light blue. Brown, red with black. (...)

This book does offer us a glimpse into another time when things were quite different and the understanding of the world was limited. One wonders how our world and perceptions will be viewed a couple of generations hence
You do raise a good question about the colors. I think it best just to read the text as written, even though the reference to italics may at first sound odd to the listener. Your read well, so I think the meaning will be clear by the way you read it.
Thanks again for your contribution. Feel free to take any other sections that appeal to you.

I'd love to take more sections as I am very much enjoying this read. Can I claim 43, 49, 60, 61, 62, 68, 69 as well?
I also noticed that a lot of the remaining sections are tabular data. How do you propose those should be read, just row by row? I wouldn't mind picking up one of them after I finish the ones I claimed now, it's just a bit daunting because of the sheer amount of numbers and how to make them sound sensible.

Hello!
Here are sections 39, 40 and 41. Phew! The Ship Bells and the Solar System chart were pretty tedious, but in the latter I added the units at the end of each number rather than the column title, to try and make it a little less sleep-inducing. I'd gladly take up 56.

Yes, I know there are a lot of statistics and tables in some of these sections, and they can be a little tedious. I almost decided against doing this project because of that, but there is so much more interesting stuff that I thought it would still be fun to do.
There is no hard and fast rule about reading these. My goal is to make them as intelligible as possible to someone who is just listening to the recording, so one may need to get creative. If you run across any of these, I'll be glad to share my ideas. I thought I might have to pick up some of these at the end, but I'll be grateful if others want to tackle them.
