I love to read, AND my employer matches my volunteer hours with a donation to the Internet Archive, flagged to benefit Librivox.org. How cool is that?

Books today seem to have darker endings than this one seems to be heading towards.
I'll agree with that. I'm struck by how little things have actually changed.

Not sure I would recommend this book to anyone with teenagers. A bit too scary.queenk8 wrote:Thanks!craigdav1 wrote:30 PL OK.

I first read this book about 35 years ago, at which time I remember being very sympathetic towards the girls. Today, my heart goes out to the parents.craigdav1 wrote:Not sure I would recommend this book to anyone with teenagers. A bit too scary.queenk8 wrote:Thanks!craigdav1 wrote:30 PL OK.

Thank you so much! Yes, not a big win for the feminists. But I do like happy endings.craigdav1 wrote:32-33PL OK. Finished!
Modern readers may not be entirely pleased with the "happy ending."

Kate,
Cataloging underway, but I'm having trouble moving the files over to Archive. Seems to be a general issue at Archive (not anything with this particular project). I'll get this wrapped up as soon as things get back to normal on the Archive side.
