All yours PapaDoug.PapaDoug wrote:Please, I would like to claim "The Buried Moon" section 23
Thank You
Hello!
May I claim section 2?
I am new to recording, what does this part mean?
"Save files as
128 kbps MP3
moreenglishfairytales_##_jacobs_128kbs.mp3 (all lower-case) where ## is the section number (e.g. moreenglishfairytales_01_128kbs_jacobs.mp3)"
It would be most appreciated if someone could explain that to me!
Kind regards,
Claudia

Hi Claudia and a great big welcome to LibriVox. I will explain the 'save files' stuff later, just be patient. I have assigned chapter 2 to you but before you record it, please make and upload a 1 minute test to be sure your recording set up is OK. Instructions can be found in our Wiki and in the first post of this project but Here is a video that may help too: How to Make your 1 minute test.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BlaRY_-bcfs and then How to Upload your 1 minute test How to Upload your 1 minute testCJager wrote:Hello!

We just want to check out your technical specs. Don't forget to post the link either in this thread or in Listeners WAnted forum. And how would you like to be credited in our catalog? What name? most of us use our real name but it is up to you.
I am making a video called "Saving and Uploading your LibriVox File" today becuse of your question. There is a video but it is out of date and you have shown me it needs to be updated!!. Please watch the video about our forums (link above) and ask lots of questions. We love 'em!! And don't worry, you will be recording in no time.
Thank you very much! I'll get straight to it!philchenevert wrote:Hi Claudia and a great big welcome to LibriVox. I will explain the 'save files' stuff later, just be patient. I'm worried about my accent though, will it be an important aspect of the recording? Since I am not a native English speaker.
You can use my real name: Claudia Jäger.
Thanks so much for the help, really appreciate it!

Here is my 1 minute test:
https://librivox.org/uploads/tests/test_cjager.mp3
I do not know how to change the techn. specs below:
Channels: 1 (Mono)
Bit Rate: 128 kbps
Sample Rate: 44.1 kHz
I did however manage to make it mono, but I didn't know how to change the bit rate or sample rate. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

Well Claudia, you have done an excellent job; everything looks fine and you have an OK to start recording! Just for your information, here is a video about setting those specs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YqmCOxOs_pM using Audacity. But your specs are fine and just keep them the same, this is just for your info. I do suggest a slight lowering of the volume in future recordings, maybe moving an inch or further from the microphone since your test recording is on the loud side. Still acceptable of course, just a bit loud.CJager wrote:Here is my 1 minute test:

Your English is excellent and your accent is also no problem at all; in fact it is delightful. Your pronunciation is very much above average and your voice is excellent. So record chapter 2 and let me know when you have uploaded it.
I'm glad. Thanks! Absolutely, I'll take these guidelines into account. Thank you for the video, it helps a lot.philchenevert wrote:Well Claudia, you have done an excellent job; everything looks fine and you have an OK to start recording! Here you go. Hope it's okay. My room had a slight echo that day. Empty room due to renovations.
