Hi Ann,
Oops, sorry I haven't been paying attention to posts this week - getting ready for Christmas. Everyone's coming to my house and too many things to do! Yes, of course, I would still like to do section 80. Consider it done. Thank you & have a wonderful Holiday Week!!

I'd like to do sections 65, 66 and 95 pleaseicequeen wrote:Sections 61-66 and 95 have been orphaned.
Just a question on pronunciation - is it the more common English pronunciation (e.g. Caesar as "see-zar") or more traditional pronunciation (Kai-zar)?

I would just use the English pronunciation of Caesar. I think that some people would be confused by a different pronunciation of his name, and this is a text book that was geared for children so they would not have been too technical on correct Latin pronunciation.

Hi
A newbie and I thought to do my "test" as a chapter.
I've uploaded chapters 64 and 63 and 62
https://librivox.org/uploads/icequeen/storyoftheromans_064_guerber_128kb.mp3
https://librivox.org/uploads/icequeen/storyoftheromans_063_guerber_128kb.mp3
https://librivox.org/uploads/icequeen/storyoftheromans_062_guerber_128kb.mp3
Chapter 64 is pretty loud - please let me know how to fix that. I think C63 is better - and it definitely seemed easier.
Regards
Kim

Welcome to LibriVox! I have your files in the MW, thank you. Just for the future, it is better to request the sections, and then have them assigned to you, before you record them. I normally don't have a problem with it, but some Book Coordinators do. The only time I have a problem is if someone else requested the sections first, I just don't want to see people doing work that won't be used. But, just a friendly FYI.
I will listen to these in a little bit and let you know how you did. Do you have times for these sections? I need them so that I can make sure I have the whole file, sometimes the internet eats things it is not supposed to. Also, do you have a name that you would like on your catalog page? And if you have a url or a blog link, I can put that there as well.

Sections 62, 63 and 64 need a couple of things fixed.
All three are in stereo, we need the recordings to be in mono. I don't know if you are using Audacity, but if you are, then you need to go to Edit, then Preferences, and click on Devices at the top. Go to Channels and select Mono. To fix your recordings, then you will need to go to the box on the left hand side of your recording and click the down arrow. You will need to split the stereo track, then delete one of the tracks. Then click that arrow again and click on Mono.
All three have low to very low volume. Section 62 is 69.1 dB, 63 is 72.3 dB, and 64 is 80.8 dB. All three need to be amplified to get to our desired 89 dB, so (if you are using Audacity) in the Effects tab, select Amplify, and amplify 62 by 30 dB, 63 by 17 dB, and 64 by 9 dB.
Once you do all that, upload your recordings again and I will check the fixes. If you want, and I recommend this, you could do a one minute test and upload it in the Listeners and Editors Wanted forum. That way, you can get detailed technical information, more than I can give.
Your recordings are very good, I look forward to listening again!

Thank you Ann for your feedback and "how to fix things". I'm finding the instructions for Audacity difficult to follow as the layout has changed somewhat in the newer versions
The timings are as follows.
CH 62 - 3'46
CH 63 - 4'04"
CH 64 - 4'22"
