"A similar carve-out gives Prince Charles unusual power over some homeowners on the Isles of Scilly, a picturesque archipelago off the southwestern coast of England... In one case, a couple built a house on the Isles of Scilly, only to have the duchy force them to sign a lease bequeathing the property to Prince Charles’s estate upon their death, said Lord Berkeley, a Labour peer in the House of Lords.
Yes, it seems odd he owns it, but he's Duke of Cornwall because one of his ancestors turfed a giant off a cliff nearby, or something...

I don't really see Charles being much good at wrestling giants off cliffs. It seems more of a young man's game.

For reasons I've never really understood, one of the main shopping spots in Melbourne has statues of the giant in it. I suppose some Cornish people were feeling a bit homesick on the other side of the world. There's a Cornish chap who comes into my library pretty regularly and he wassails his apples, but the time of year is backward to Cornwall, because the seasons are reversed here.

Back into it.
This is a short chapter, 13:17.

Our previously amiable author has really lost me with this one. He has a go at the Irish, the Spanish, the Australian aborigines and the native Scillonians. He also feels the need to put in bits of French, Latin and Spanish. All in all, a most irritating turn of events.

Well, our author did sound a bit grumpy.

PL OK.

For my reference, we're at page 180 (actual 160).

One note. There's an place name I've been pronouncing "Guff" in the previous chapters. In this chapter the author says it rhymes with "Hugh" so I've checked the pronunciation and I was wrong. It's said "Gyew". I feel its too late to go back and spot-repair the mistake, but I'll switch across from now on. Sorry about that.

The Patron Saint of Wreckers is wonderfully creepy as an idea.

(Please don't feel rushed to do these. I know I've piled them on: I have leave this week and so I'm trying to tidy up my old projects, but you've been incredibly quick on the other ones.)

This post won't let me delete it, but I can edit it down to an apologetic line...

Hi Timothy,
Section 21 is PL OK.

Section 22 (the Appendix). You have a few slips, none of them serious. You can do as you like with them.

page 200, at 2:47.5, text says "very illegible hand" and you said "legible"

page 202, at 5:18.5, there is a repetition of the word "I"

page 202, at 6:03, in the footnote, there is a repetition of the "C" sound in the word "Columbus"

at 18:54, where you may have inserted the words "There are likewise". It would sound better if you lowered the volume on these words to match the preceding and following words.

page 215. At 25:54, where you say "No. 2 from Silly" the "No. 2" is blurred or cut off.

I was surprised to learn from the appendix how few people actually were living in Scilly.

Yes, the population does seem small - but it may be that it was far larger before the islands cracked apart and some of the cropland sank?
