Articles published on the official U.S. "gov" site are in the public domain. Here's a nonfiction read from NASA that combines climate change and the search for lost civilizations!

"Climate Change and the rise and fall of civilizations" by Emily Sohn

https://climate.nasa.gov/news/1010/climate-change-and-the-rise-and-fall-of-civilizations/

"The search for the fabled city of Ubar began with a cold call to NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in 1982. Documentary filmmaker Nicholas Clapp had heard stories about a lost settlement in the Arabian Desert that was once teeming with riches. At some point many centuries ago, Ubar had disappeared into the sand and Clapp wondered if he might use NASA spacecraft to look for it."

This article would make a great read for the current volume of the Short Nonfiction Collection:

I'll happily record the article from Jan. 20, 2014 in your link; or am I misreading and there's a longer article somewhere?
