Select works of Martin Luther, Volume 1, translated by Henry Cole
Select works of Martin Luther: an offering to the church of God in the last days, translated by Henry Cole. Volume 1 of a four-volume set. Henry Cole has selected and now presents what he considers the best of Luther's writings, including nine sermons. Luther's principal concern in most of his writings is the understanding that salvation is by faith alone and not by human works. This he is not ashamed to repeat in various ways, that we may surrender our efforts to God, and that our works become offerings of love and service rather than attempts to merit his free grace.

Prospective PLs, please see the Guide for Proof-listeners.

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the number of languishing projects on our server, we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't recorded anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process unless you are the BC or PL. Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

"Special" PL required - i.e. word perfect except where the meaning is not affected.

Question for admin:
While Luther is obviously the author of the 'passages', they have been selected and compiled by Henry Cole, so should it be "by Henry Cole" rather than "by Martin Luther" in the introduction?

Say "Martin Luther" since he's the author. If you want to say "selected/compiled by Henry Cole" you can, but it's not required.

EDIT: Did he translate them or just compile them? If he took them from German/Latin/Whatever to English, then it'd be "translated by..." I suppose since the work is called "select works of ML", one would assume they're by ML, so one COULD leave that part out of the intros if one preferred, but still do "translated by HC".

I'll definitely be including "translated by Henry Cole". It was just regarding official 'authorship' in such cases. Okay, thanks.

I've a few computer problems at the moment - the fan keeps kicking in very loudly - but I'll try to get started soon.

Gill,

ITD is naming his files: selectworksvol2_##_luther_128kb.mp3
... in case you want to use a similar naming convention on the different volumes in this series.
