The Cask, by Freeman Wills Crofts (1879 - 1957)

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/the-cask-by-freeman-wills-crofts/

Volunteers outside the USA: Freeman Wills Crofts died in 1957. This person's work may still be protected by copyright in countries where copyright duration is determined by the author's death date. In Europe this is 70 years; in Canada it is 70 years for authors who died after 1971; and in Australia it is 70 years for authors who died after 1955.
Though he went on to write dozens of other novels over an almost 40-year career, his debut work--this 1920 detective mystery--is considered by many to be Crofts’ masterpiece. A cask supposedly containing statuary is accidentally damaged when it’s being unloaded in London. Its contents are a surprise, and a mystery! Will Inspector Burnley be able to solve it? OK, the MW has been found, the dust and cobwebs have been wiped off, and you now have access to the MW. We will wait here a day or so to see if we can pick up a DPL, unless you have someone in mind. I will move chapter 1 to my folder, that shouldn't be hard to find either!

I am still working on the MW/first post. Yes, let's give it a few days. I have a lot of PL on my plate already and am hoping someone else will do this one.

Hello,
I would be interested in being the DPL for this, as it sounds really interesting. Thanks for your consideration.
