The Adventures of a Man of Science, by L. T. Meade and Clifford Halifax (1854 - 1914)

This project is now complete. All audio files can be found on our catalog page here:

"We have taken down these stories from time to time as our friend. Paul Gilchrist, has related them to us. He is a man whose life study has been science in its most interesting forms—he is also a keen observer of human nature and a noted traveler. He has an unbounded sympathy for his kind, and it has been his lot to be consulted on many occasions by all sorts and conditions of men." - Meade & Halifax
These eight short mystery/suspense stories were originally published in multiple issues of the Strand Magazine V12 (1896) and V13 (1897). (Summary by knotyouraveragejo)

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the number of languishing projects on our server, we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't recorded anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process unless you are the BC or PL. Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

:) I've recorded the first story, but it may be a day or two before it is ready to upload. I've also decided to use the texts from the original issues of The Strand, rather than the wikisource transcription. I'll add the text links from HathiTrust to the first post.

I'll be looking forward to it, Jo! I've never looked at this magazine before and I'm already seeing some interesting articles. I'll have fun spending some time thumbing through them.
