Of course, perfectly understand, take your time. Hope you had a great Christmas break too. You sound busy now. How many books are you PL-ing?

I refuse to count. Somewhere between 15 and 20. Some are dormant though, RL takes precedence for a little. Me, I have lots of time and enjoy this as well as the other aspects of Librivox volunteering very much. I am also a swimmer, weighlifter, knitter, crocheter, mom....

Section 18 is PL ok. Another great philosophical debate!

Yes, and I felt a bit like Hans Castorp at the end, prodding my walking stick in the snow and wondering what all those big words amounted to!! Thx as always, Christine.

Dear Christine, here is S19, at 26.21.
Entitled 'Snow', rather aptly I thought, as it was snowing as I edited it! Some vintage TM descriptive writing here....

Wow, this lived up to all my expectations! The way you read really brings it to life! I found a great youtube video of snow buntings. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FC3DjcUJI1w&ab_channel=KimSmith

Oh, my! That video has perfectly lit up my morning. Simply magical, giving grace and beauty and sublimity to these icy times!!! Birds continue to offer free advice on how humans should live, such a pity we choose to ignore them.
(Glad you enjoyed the section, I made as many mistakes as ever, and cursed Lowe Porter's obtuse syntax once or twice - but Mann's words lifted me out of the grey English January murk in the end!)

Brrr! It is cold here in the UK - and Hans Castorp is pretty frozen too in this section (25.01). Hope you are keeping warm - or cool - down there!

Great! We'll all freeze together. Misery does love company! We'll be having temperatures in the teens this week as well!

Section 20 is PL ok. What a wonderful description of the feeling of cross-country skiing! I imagine it would be hard to bring that forth with a movie. Your voice does it excellently though. Also, a cliffhanger?!!

Thank you Christine! Yes, this is a bravura part of the MM, the sequence I most recall from my first reading of it, years ago. And there is more snow and storm to go..... Hans Castorp is not out of the woods or free of that cliff quite yet..... brrrr.....!
