And a happy Christmas, if you celebrate it, and, definitely, a happy new year to you.
The Vampire Bride is an interesting chapter about what seems to be a grand guignol-type theatre in the Limehouse area.

Thank you, Peter. The same to you.
I was just settling in with The Manuscripts Club: The People Behind a Thousand Years of Medieval Manuscripts by Christopher de Hamel. I really enjoyed his book Meetings with Remarkable Manuscripts.
And a grand guignol theatre makes sense for the next chapter. I just couldn’t imagine what he would liken a vampire bride to. Definitely sounds interesting!

Chapter 25 edited and re-uploaded.
Jolly Jack Tar getting rolled for nearly everything he has. The human race seems always to have had its unfair share of intraspecies predators.

Thanks, Laura. I've uploaded Chapter 27; Cockney cave-dwellers - pdf 376-382 / text 351-357. An interesting chapter! Covent Garden has certainly changed in 150 years.
A lucky coincidence: I occasionally watch the short youtube videos by "RobsLondon" about quirks of central London. A few days ago, I was watching one about "London's Narrowest Alley", which is off St Martin's Lane. There, at around five minutes, Rob shows an engraving by Gustav Dore (I couldn't get an acute accent with Notepad) of Dudley Street, which is the focus of our Chapter 27.

Thanks for sharing, Peter. I love engravings by Gustave Doré and it was nice to have a drawing to go with this chapter. I enjoyed watching the video from Robslondon so much that I subscribed to the channel.
A very interesting Chapter 27 is PL OK.

Thanks, Laura; I've uploaded chapter 28 - Madman's paradise pdf pages 383-390 / text pages 358-365
I do like Rob's little videos. I'm glad you like them, too. I think I started watching them more often after the one on cabmen's huts in London.
