The Vedanta Sutras with the Commentary by Sankaracarya, Volume 2, by Bādarāyaṇa and Adi Shankara (c. 700 - c. 750 ), translated by George Thibaut (1848 - 1914)
The Vedanta Sutras, or Brahma Sutras as they are also known, is a Sanskrit text attributed to the sage Badarayana (also known as Vyasa) written sometime between 500 BCE and 450 CE, with most scholars placing it in the period between 500 BCE and 200 BCE. Together with the Principal Upanishads and the Bhagavad Gita, The Vedanta-Sutras form the trilogy of sacred texts considered most important to Vedanta philosophy.
Continuing the journey of philosophical exploration, Volume 2 of "The Vedanta Sutras with the Commentary by Sankaracarya" delves into the final two pādas of adhyāya 2 and extends through adhyāyas 3 and 4. Sri Adi Shankaracharya's commentary enriches the text, complementing the teachings of Badarayana. The closing pādas of adhyāya 2 delve deeper into creation's intricacies and the connection between the material and divine. Adhyāya 3 explores spiritual practices, karma's nuances, and meditation's transformative potential. Adhyāya 4 widens the lens to encompass meditation, knowledge, and the pursuit of liberation. IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the number of languishing projects on our server, we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't recorded anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process unless you are the BC or PL. Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Here is a link to Volume 1:

I would prefer this volume to match up with that volume as far as titling and attributions.

The MW is up. I've adjusted the filename and the long intro. This is all similar to volume 1, except that I didn't include the translator's name at the start of the long intro. That was an oversight in volume 1. The standard format of the long intro is "Section/chapter # of title. Disclaimer. Title by author, translated by translator". In this case we can't omit all the names from the title because of its special form, but translator's name doesn't need to be repeated.

Moving the thread to Going Solo.

I was planning on recording the first section today, but it's too hot here to turn the fan off. Tomorrow should be cooler, though. If I don't end up working OT, I'll get section 1 up by tomorrow night. 8-)

And so it begins! Section 1 is ready for PL. Also, Volume 2 has for some reason switched from the abbreviation and spelling "Ch. Up." for "Chandogya Upanishad" to "Kh. Up." and "Khandogya." I probably should have been pronouncing it with a "k" sound throughout Volume 1, but I feel like I looked up all of the pronunciations of the upanishads for that volume. Maybe there are multiple. It is what it is.
