A short little book focusing about Sammy Jay. Burgess does an amazing job teaching the characteristics of the animals while still making it interesting. (Summary by Victoria Bell)

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the number of languishing projects on our server, we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't recorded anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process unless you are the BC or PL. Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

No need to bump the thread, our intrepid admins either have seen it, or soon will!
I gather that MCing involves a lot more than "just" setting up the Magic Window at the beginning, it means committing first to watch the thread for questions or issues, and then to catalog the book once it's finished. Might not be a lot individually, but when you're signed up for several dozen, it would add up fast.
So it might just take a little while before somebody's got "room on their plate" to make that commitment.

Meanwhile, if you don't have a DPL in mind, I'd be glad to join you! DRs are fun, but this sounds like a nice break.

Alright, we're off to a good start! The technicals check out, the volume is in range, and your expressive reading makes this a fun story to listen to!

Just a few silences to edit, and then a pair of optional suggestions in case you find them useful.

Chapter 1:
- We'll need more silence at the beginning and end - between half and a full second, and "about" five seconds, respectively. (Whenever I forget to leave the mic running for that, I usually copy/paste some "room noise" from one of my pauses until it's the right length. It works... )
- Optionally, There were also two pauses that seemed unusually long, @2:12 and @2:21. If you wanted to shorten them while you're editing, I think that'd blend with the rest of the reading better.

Chapter 2:
- The beginning silence is again just a tad short. The end silence is perfect at 4.9.

Then in case you hadn't seen it, the first post also has a shortened LV intro option. After the first chapter, you're free to use either the full or the shortened one, whichever you prefer.

Thanks,
I re-uploaded them. They should be better now. If you think that for the optional part that I should fix that, I will.

I'm afraid the upload might have failed, I downloaded them again but got the exact same files.
I've seen this happen a few times recently, where it tells you the upload succeeded, but it really leaves the old version there. So far, uploading one more time has done the trick.

If you're referring to the pauses in chapter 1, I do think it would sound better with them shortened, and if you have a listen to them together with what's around them - say, 1:59 to 2:27 - I think you'll agree. But it is your decision, as the BC. :D

Just as a heads-up, I'll be on tomorrow, but probably not Saturday or Sunday, so anything you upload those days will be PL'd on Monday.
