Here's Chapter 4 ready for PL: https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/animalrights_04_salt_128kb.mp3
Hi Lucie,

Chapter 4 is almost perfect; just one small change needed:

At 9:50, you read “is almost largely on the increase; so that the details…” However, the text reads “is also largely on the increase; so that the details …” This changes the meaning and will have to be corrected.

And that's all!

Amazing the excuses made to justify the eating of animals (our pleasure is greater than their pain? Really? How on earth could Bentham know that?) Sadly, some things still haven't changed enough.

Cheers,
Winnifred

Here's the edited version of Chapter 4: https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/animalrights_04_salt_128kb.mp3

I know, it seems intellectually dishonest to me as well!
Since you said that you're vegetarian on ethical grounds, and you seem like a compassionate and thoughtful person, I think you might be interested in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UcN7SGGoCNI

Thank you for putting in the time to PL me! :)

Ok, Chapter 4 is now PL OK. And it’s my pleasure to PL you.

Less than pleasurable was that video. Could I live without cheese? I’ll have to think about that.

Cheers,
Winnifred

Thank you for watching it :)
Working on the editing for Chapter 5.

PS: By the way, I still eat (plant-based) cheese as a vegan, so you can still have delicious plant-based cheese that taste quite similar! Same with milk and egg replacers :)

Hi Lynne,

I just noticed that this project is in Readers Wanted: Books. Should it be in Going Solo instead?

Thanks,
Winnifred

Hi Lucie,

Chapter 5 is PL OK and nicely read! No corrections needed.

Just a caution: at a couple of points, I hear something that sounds like you might be softly tapping or even just touching the microphone, and in the last minute or so, you seem to move closer and farther away from the mic as you're speaking, which causes some slightly distracting differences in your voice. These aren't marked enough to require any correction, just something to watch out for on subsequent chapters.

On to the next!

Cheers,
Winnifred

Sweet!
Yes, it's because I recorded on another day some words I hadn't pronounced right. I'll be careful for the next chapter!

Here is Chapter 6 ready for PL: https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/animalrights_06_salt_128kb.mp3
Let me know if I need to rerecord the poem at the end

Hi Lucie,

Chapter 6 is PL OK. No need to rerecord the poem; it sounds fine.

Your edits occasionally sound a bit abrupt, and might be smoother if you allowed a bit more silence between the previous words and the edited piece. I generally try to re-record entire phrases or sentences, starting from the last breath-pause I took before the fumbled word, rather than trying to insert individual words (which almost always sound unnatural). Do you do that too, or do you try to insert single words?

Cheers,
Winnifred

Yes, I usually insert a single word, so I'll take your advice about inserting a full sentence instead, thank you :)

The appendix seems to have chapters in itself, am I allowed to read those?
