Hello Aradlaw,
I am so sorry that I have only been able to respond to your kind, prompt response so many months later! Please excuse me. It was not intended, as my computer became problematic around that same time. Still trying to access Audacity on it as we speak.
Nevertheless, thank you for your kind support.
Regards,
amazingspace48

Hi amazingspace48, there are a few issues with your file...amazingspace48 wrote: ↑May 31st, 2023, 10:22 am Hello Aradlaw,
Here's my recording for your consideration:

- your bitrate is 256 kbps and a 48000 Hz sample rate, we need 128 kbps and a 44100 Hz sample rate
- the volume of your file is quite low at 63.3 dB
- the filename has two .mp3(s) - do not include the .mp3 when saving/exporting as mp3
*can you make these changes and upload a new file ?
*You should aim for your waveforms to peak near the 0.5 mark, like this:
You can check your volume using our Checker program - see info at http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Checker You will find the volume in decibels on the Information tab. For your information, we look for around 89 dB (87-91 is OK) (all the other tech specs are there also)

Hello Aradlaw,
Thank you for your kind feedback. Hope this attempt is an improvement:
https://librivox.org/uploads/aradlaw/prisoner_bronte_as48_128kb.mp3 (3:07s)
Still no luck with re-accessing Audacity on my PC as yet. In the interim, I tried this website: https://onlineaudioconverter.com/#

Hi amazingspace48, I'm afraid the volume is lower on your second try at only 56.9 dB.
This is what your waveform looks like at this end. https://librivox.org/uploads/aradlaw/as48_waveform.jpg
Is it possible to reinstall Audacity? What program are you using to record?
I amplified your file - https://librivox.org/uploads/aradlaw/prisoner_bronte_as48_128kb.mp3

Hi David! I gave a listen and it sounds good. I only mention a small deviation from the text in case you want to change it. At 2:13 I hear "and we have come" where the poem reads "and we are come"aradlaw wrote: ↑May 31st, 2023, 7:59 am Here is my reading, ready for PL...

I submitted my reading before I found the correction, so I added the extra verse and resubmitted.
Running time is now 2:42

Hi Aradlaw,
Sorry that that the audio in the second attempt was even lower than the first. Thanks for your additional suggestions. I think that when I got locked out of my PC (the password expired, and I couldn't log in to type in the new one despite several attempts), I had to get the entire system 'cleared' and 'reset' (hope those are the correct terms), and in the process, appeared to have lost the Audacity app.
Nevertheless, will try again.
Kind regards,
amazingspace48
