Living My Life, by Emma Goldman (1869 - 1940)
Living My Life is the autobiography of Lithuanian-born anarchist Emma Goldman, who became internationally renowned as an activist based in the United States. It was published in two volumes in 1931 (Alfred A. Knopf) and 1934 (Garden City Publishing Company). Goldman wrote it while living in Saint-Tropez, France, following her disillusionment with the Bolshevik role in the Russian revolution.

The text thoroughly covers her personal and political life from early childhood through to 1927. The book has constantly remained in print since, in original and abridged editions. Since the autobiography was published nine years before Goldman died in 1940, it does not record her role in the Spanish Civil War. (Summary by Wikipedia)

That copyright renewal database is only from 1978 onward. The original would have been renewed in 1959 or thereabouts. And there is also the murky area of whether it was published elsewhere first, or within a certain number of days of being published in the US...all sorts of ugliness regarding works published less than 95 years ago.

Because it's hard to prove a negative, we must rely on trustworthy sources that research their out-of-copyright claims on books published less than 95 years ago. The two sources we trust are gutenberg.org and hathitrust.org.

If you can find the text on one of those sites, we can use it. Otherwise, we must pass.

Here's our text policy in our wiki: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=Recording_%26_Text_Policies#Our_policy_on_text_sources%3A
and here it is in the forum: viewtopic.php?t=72912

Moving this off the Launch Pad for now.

Here's an edition on Hathitrust flagged as PD:
https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=mdp.39015046864115&view=1up&seq=7

I also did a copyright renewal search on it and didn't find anything, so I think it should be ok to read from.

Okay, HT verification is good.

Over 900 pages of text? You'll need to verify that your sections are under about 10,000 words each, and this is going to be a LONG project to complete.

(I won't be MC'ing; my MC plate is full.)

You'll be the BC, yes. I'm not sure what the DC is. ;)

DPL is the dedicated proof-listener. Is that what you meant?

The MC is the one that sets up the Magic Window, whose folder the files are uploaded to, and who does the final cataloging.

OK, I've set this up.

In the first post, you'll want to change the intro/outro to say either "chapter" or "section". If you're dividing chapters into parts, I recommend using "section"; otherwise "chapter" works best.

I'm headed out of town tomorrow morning, so I won't be around to answer any questions. I've been assured by at least one other admin that they'll keep an eye on this and answer any questions you have.

Have fun!
