The Third Violet by Stephen Crane, by Stephen Crane (1871 - 1900)
The Third Violet is, in almost every respect, a stark departure from Stephen Crane's previous novels: a light, frothy, summertime tale of love, class, and art. Told extensively through incidental dialogue and minor incident, Crane's novel gives us a fly-on-the-wall perspective of the burgeoning romance between temperamental artist Billie Hawker and Grace Fanhall, an upper-class woman who is continually flummoxed by her would-be suitor's "ridiculousness." Through their courtship, Crane probes into the cavernous gulf that exists between men and women, rural and urban communities, and the bourgeois and bohemian classes. (Summary by ChuckW)

Okay, fun fact: I was going to read this as a solo project many moons ago, but decided against that since... um... this novel is about 70% dialogue?

So I've decided to launch it as a dramatic reading instead. I'm still reading the narration, but all other roles are available. I was going to wait until Social War of 1900 was in the catalogue, but... I got impatient. Haha.

Color-coded chapters and character descriptions can be found HERE.

Okay... I'm gonna go to bed now, so if you reply to this thread... I won't see it for a while.

That would be great, thank you. :-)

Although... uh... the MW might take a while to populate, so the claim won't be represented in this space for a couple of hours.

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear that, Christine! Hopefully the healing/rehab process will be relatively routine?

On the plus side, I'm glad you're able to volunteer. Thank you!

8 weeks of nothing; whereas I am used to weighlifting and swimming. Hoping it will be easier since I have kept active.

Ooooof. I sympathize. I'm a pretty avid runner and would probably go crazy if someone told me to sit around and do nothing for eight weeks. Hope you make the best of it!
