Helen of the Old House, by Harold Wright (1872 - 1944)
Helen is not the main character; it is the mill, in this small town in the first half of the 20th century. This is a story of labor strife, class
inequity and warfare, poverty and wealth, socialism vs. capitalism, and love and hatred. It centers on two families; each family
includes a father and a son and a daughter. In their childhood years, they were all very close. Over time, Helen ‘s family becomes
very wealthy, the other family less so. By questionable means, Helen’s father becomes the owner of the mill. He represents
corporate greed at its worst. A labor organizer named Jake Vodell creates major strife. He is described as a communist and a
“foreigner”. A central character is an old, injured and retired worker called the Interpreter. He attempts to make the town realize that
the real enemy is neither labor nor capital; it is the extremes of capital greed and labor socialism. Such class conflict is a major
backdrop in most of Harold Bell Wright’s novels. He was a best selling author of his time. His books show how much progress we
have made in technology; human behavior seems little changed (Summary by Bob Rollins)

If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process unless you are the BC or PL. Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Chapter 01 has been uploaded. (You will notice that "Book 1" precedes the Chapter. I have sort of ignored this, because the Chapters do so. In other words, Book 02 does not start with another Chapter 01; it just continues with Chapter X111. And usually only one sentence follows the Book heading before the Chapter begins. There are four "Books". However, if you want me to handle it differently, just let me know.)

I assume I should use Roman numbers, as does the book.
These are long chapters. Somewhere I recall that chapters over 30 minutes should have 10 seconds of silence at the end. However, I notice the instruction now mentions only 5 seconds.

Because the chapters are number sequentially and because the chapter numbers are the same as the section numbers, what you do makes sense.
If you wanted to add the Book numbers to the titles in the MW, I would suggest doing so just for the first chapter of each book. Titles for following chapters would just have the chapter number and chapter title. For example, section 1 would be titled in the MW, "Book 1, Ch. I, The Hut on the Cliff." Section 2 would be titled "Ch. II, Little Maggie's Princess Lady."......Section 13 would be titled "Book 2, Ch. XIII, The Awakening." I hope this makes sense.

The silence at the end is now 5s regardless of the chapter length.

At the beginning of the intro you say, "Book 2, Chapter2" not "Book 1, Chapter 2"

Bob,
I just noticed that you uploaded the last two chapters to Lynette's folder not mine (craigdav1).

Upps. Just saw your notes. Will correct Chapter 02. So Lynnet is still in the title, but it goes to your folder, right?. Will do so hereafter.

Chapters 04, 05 and 06 have been up loaded (to Lynnet).
