Here is Section 57 of Anecdcotes of the Great Musicians.

Note: It passed the checker but with warnings… I’m not sure if it is usable but I’m sure you’ll let me kno!

A most enjoyable read!

Okay, the warnings in Checker are because it's come out at 85.5 dB, which is below the target range. We're aiming for ca. 89 dB. You'll need to some work on the file in Audacity to bring it up. Trying doing a Loudness Normalisation set at -19 LUFS (whatever they are). You might need to some Noise Reduction after that for the empty spaces. However, before you try all that, there are some changes to be made.

02:59 I hear "he was extremely superstitious"; text has suspicious
05:04 & 05:12 I hear “Piccinini” (4 syllables); text has “Piccinni” (3 syllables) [Pich - EE - nee]
05:36 & 10:06 I hear “Hayden”; text has “Haydn” [HIGH - dn]
05:58 Anecdote 283 is missing and Anecdote 284 starts here
12:55 I hear “recite-a-tive”; text is recitative [re - si - ta - teeve]
13:45 onward belongs to the next section (and has already been recorded)

It's usually best to make changes to the files in reverse order. That way you can find the time marks easily.

Duly assigned. But can I ask you get your settings sorted out on the other section before you launch into this one? That way you won't need to do as much work on this one.

Thank you for your detailed responses! (I understand that was a lot of work on your part and I appreciated it.) Yes, so many errors, but all (I hope) have been fixed including adding the anecdote I missed… so embarrassed!

I found a few other mistakes as well and have edited these to the best of my "new-found ability!" Lesson learned, slow down and listen back 10 times WITH the script. :-)

This version has passed the checker and hopefully all pronunciations make the mark too.

Best wishes from Canada and thanks again for your guidance!

Spot PL okay. However, this is the wrong file name. It needs to be exactly the same name as the one you uploaded previously, otherwise the wrong one will be released. Also, please always tell us how long the file is. This is a key field when the work gets published. It also helps the PL schedule listening in to their life.

These sections are quite short, but when you come to do longer recordings, you won't have either the time or the patience to listen to yourself 10 times!

In re pronunciations, in Standard PL we don't normally comment on these unless its a different word. There are many different ways of saying some words and if the meaning is not obscured then I leave them unnoted. It's only those that are important that I make note of.

Can you please resave your file with the correct name and re-upload it?

Well BWC, shall I try this again? If it does not work this time, perhaps I should humbly and permanently retreat to the backwoods of my northern clime!

Please see Section 52 for your exhausted ears! :-)

Time: 10 mins, 33 seconds

If this passes, may I claim Sections 38 and 39. (Or either is fine if you prefer to assign only one at a time.)

Thanks,

Val

38 & 39 are assigned toyou.

Just one change in Section 52, please.

05:54 I hear "Webber" (as in the barbecue makers); the text has "Weber" - a German name, so "Vay-ber". There is an English composer Samuel Webbe that a listener might get confused about.
