There are 1/3 the number of verses in the New Testament, so at that pace, you might get done in 4 months! 8-)
Thanks, Tricia! My goal is to finish before May 11, which is my 90th birthday.

My congrats as well. And, I'll do my best to help you achieve that goal. I would never have guessed that you were almost 90.

I can't believe the OT is (almost) finished.

Section 98 is PL OK.

Section 99 has one small fix at the end.
There is a really long pause between 1:02:20 and 1:02:27 and this is followed by some text that needs to be removed "And he gave him authority to gather together an army". Please shorten the silence and remove that extra text before the "end of chapter 10"

Thanks,

M

Plan to do section 100 tomorrow.
Not sure how I missed that..(old age?), but the corrected version is up and ready.

Section 100 is PL OK.

Section 101 has one small correction: the first word of the recording should be "second" not "first"

Thanks,

M

Will finish the last section tomorrow. :)

I think this book has it in for you - the opposite of Hosea.

Section 101 is PL OK.

Section 2 is missing some elephants. Can't have that happen. :)
35:48 left off the "22 elephants" after "5000 horsemen"

Thanks,

jondalar1988 wrote: September 18th, 2023, 5:12 pm Hi there! Remember me? Hope you enjoyed your short break; Here's sections 103, 104 & 105:

Comment on section 103. Not necessarily a correction unless you want it so.

10:07 "wilderness" instead of "desert" in "A voice of one crying in the desert"

Wilderness seems to be the more common term here, but this version uses desert. Not sure that it is a big deal, I can go either way - I leave it up to you.

Yes, and there are a number of other differences between the 1899 version and later iterations of
the Douay-Rheims. I've been comparing "my" selected version with the one at Gutenberg, since
the one I'm reading is loaded with errors in spelling and extra/missing words. In the mentioned
case, I'd be inclined to go with it as written, i.e. "desert", since the distinction between that and
"wilderness" was, at the time of writing, a very subtle one.

I certainly have noticed all the errors in this as I am listening to your excellent recordings. It surprised me as the previous version you recorded was much less problematic. Does the Gutenberg version use "wilderness" as opposed to the "desert" here? I pulled a couple of copies from some university websites, didn't check the version information though, and they used "desert".

Anyway, section 104 is PL OK.

vis-a-vis the "desert" vs "wilderness" question.....The Gutenberg copy also uses "desert". Apparently it's Challoner's 1759 revision, whereas I'm recording the 1899 version because my research indicated that was the most popular with modern Catholics.
