But there are only a few Edgar Rice Burroughs books that are PD that have not been read.

An alternative to ERB would be reading some PD stories by Lovecraft or REH.

Well, most of those have actually been read too (actually pretty much all PD Lovecraft has been read and there are a handful of mostly non-genre REH unread).

But to annise's point, there really is a ton of weird fiction and sci-fi that hasn't been read for Librvox at all.

Speaking of Lovecraft and REH though, there is one Clark Ashton Smith story that hasn't been read:
The Raja and the Tiger (1912) https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=njp.32101064241811&view=1up&seq=294&skin=2021

This one was read by Joe Denoia:

There are multiple versions of several ERB books on Librivox, so if someone else wants to give this one a shot, that would be good!

The books of it that were finally published in the 1950s-1970's contain some errors, mostly typographical I think. I am thinking it would be best to have the distributed proofreaders group do a good text conversion of the original newspaper page scans that are online so a corrected version the actual book can be on PG too.
Ah, not sure how I missed that this was already recorded. I think I must've searched on LV without the dash.

flavo5000 wrote: November 10th, 2022, 3:31 pm I actually just recorded The Moon Men, the sequel to The Moon Maid, for Librivox. I was pretty surprised to find that it hadn't been done before. The third book in the series, The Red Hawk, also remained unrecorded.
Fadedpage has a volume that includes all three books.

I just poked Al to ask him to get it posted to PG-US.
This has posted to PG-US now.

I have a project at pgdp.net started for The Eternal Savage now. No idea how long it's going to take to post to pg.

Tarzan and the Lost Empire has a clearance and a project at pgdp.net. I posted my scans to archive.org if anyone wants to work on it before it posts to PG.

The Tarzan Twins entered the public domain this year as well. Unfortunately, I can't find a scan or e-text of it online except the Gutenberg AU site, and I've been told those are valid to use under any circumstance for reading on Librivox.

Ouch, that's an expensive book to buy.

I have clearances for these two where we'll pull the text from fadedpage. I've uploaded the scans to archive.org until we get them pulled into PG.

Yea, I'm wondering if it'd be able to be acquired through an inter-library loan. I've gotten some pretty rare books that way.
