Hi Michael! thank you for your contribution! That is an astounding story! It does have some horror, like in being buried alive, so I think it fits alright here. I do want to include it, because it's so weird  PL OK!

Sorry if the answer to this has been posted elsewhere, but I'm wondering if someone could recommend a good source to find public domain ghost/horror stories. I'd love to contribute to this project, but not really sure where to start. Thanks!

Here is a collection of classic horror stories: https://web.archive.org/web/20141105215840/http://www.classichorrorstories.com/stories/stories.html
Some may have been recorded before, but that shouldn't stop you from selecting your favourite to record!
Also, here's a couple of forum posts with suggestions:

Here's also a good selection of ghost stories too:

I don't believe any of these have been recorded.

Good Evening:

Itself
By Seabury Quinn
From Weird Tales, September, 1925
Read by Dale Grothmann
Time 17:41

Seabury Quinn was a good writer and a good editor. While I was reading this, it came to me that, in the first section, it OUGHT to read "table tapping" not "table tippng", but I went back to the source document (Three times) and red it the way it is written.

Enjoy

I've noticed that there seems to be at least one typo in almost half the Weird Tales stories I've read. That whole Invisible Ghost serial seems to even poke fun at it.

I think it's called table-tipping, because if the spirits came, they tipped the table to one side or the other.

A couple of things to correct if you'd like, Dale,
at around 4:59, text is "One rap on the table means a, two, b, and so on through the alphabet."
at around 11:35, " ’Tis a priest I need to doctor my sinful soul, "
11:54 short repeat "here’s where we play"
12:56 short repeat "for the policeman"

Thank you:

I have made the 4 corrections you caught. Thank you for your careful listening. The story makes more sense when I read the words the author wrote.

Everything else the same.

Thanks for all your work.

And you're very welcome, though as I see it, you put in all the work, I just put in the pleasure of listening :D
